I was so confused by this clickbait article. They are not dating. This reads more like her fantasy than a co-worker relationship.

[–]D0-Not 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

She's like, a 6, at best and that's only because she has youth on her side, once she hits the wall, i feel sorry for her

No idea why everyone in social media is on a mission to pile dirt on Henry, just because he left the woke of a show.

[–]niko_xf 132 points133 points134 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Based on what she says in the article I doubt she has an idea what a really good and healthy friendship means.

I know Hollywood chews up and spits out child actors, but it doesn't seem to be that way with British ones

So is Madonna wearing a thong at the age of 70. News isn’t what it used to be.

[–]introspectthis 32 points33 points34 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Oof.. the fact that a man having boundaries is in the same bracket of explenation for ridiculous news as an elderly woman in a thong somehow makes it even worse x)

[–]penguinsrcoolaf 45 points46 points47 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's had some weird "friendship" going in with Drake since she was about 14. They don't call it Hollyweird for nothing. I totally get my he's doing it.

[–]Terrible_Terrance 75 points76 points77 points 3 years ago* (21 children) | Copy Link

That's smart and fair, it made me respect him a lot more. It was weird finding out that there were some men who would actually text younger girls and make it seem like it's some "friendship" type thing. Even if you don't have the worst of intentions, it's still just inappropriate regardless if the young person is a guy or girl.

[–]Farseer_Uthiliesh 49 points50 points51 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Exactly what I'm saying.

[–]Icy-Start5536 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

It's not inappropriate. And apart from any sexual nature of the text, at 18 she would be an adult anyway.

[+]Terrible_Terrance -12 points-11 points-10 points 3 years ago* (12 children) | Copy Link

I don't understand why a grown man past the age of 25 or even 30 would ever want to text someone who's 18. Regardless of sexual nature, there is way to big of an age gap. It just seems weird that there are some people that view 18 as some magical number and once someone turns 18 it means they can interact with someone and be able to say "Hey it's legal".

[–]Icy-Start5536 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Because they're more beautiful than their 30-year old counterparts. But the fact that you question why a 25-30 years old man would want a girl who's 18 but do NOT question why an 18 y.o. would be with a 25-30 man is very telling of your bias.

[–]Terrible_Terrance -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

What bias? This specific situation involves a man and a girl and this situation was created because of the stigma between older men and underage/barely legal girl. I'm sorry I wasn't trying to force inclusion so I wouldn't offend you, but anyone with common sense would understand that I meant any adult and 18 year old person. Also, it's weird that you're reasoning for this is that they're "more beautiful than their 30-year old counterparts" when the simple truth is that they're just more younger and more easily capable of being manipulated (regardless of gender). Either is a gross excuse to try and make a friendship with them.

[–]Icy-Start5536 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Exactly, it's between consenting adults. Remember we're talking abstractly, not this current situation. But you implied it's wrong for a man to start such a situationship but you did NOT imply it's wrong for the woman, which I don't think it is. But your point out only that it's the man being inappropriate (another PC beta word) demonstrates your bias.

[+]Terrible_Terrance -8 points-7 points-6 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

What is your problem? Do you not see an issue with an adult, regardless of it being a man or a woman, waiting until a child turns 18 to start engaging with them? They don't just magically mature and gain a fully develop brain. They still think, act, and perceive themselves as a teenager. The fact that you're focusing on me using males as an example, because that's literally a part of this situation, rather than the issue itself is extremely telling. Why do you want to talk to an 18 year old so badly?

[–]Icy-Start5536 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, I don't.

[–]miroku000 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In this case, aren't we taling about coworkers that have to spend many hours a day together for work? And they may or may not be texting. They could just be talking to each other on set. She may have asked him some inappropriate questions about his sex life or something and so he set some boundaries. That all seems very reasonable.

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If she asked something inapropriate, then she should already be metoo'ed and destroyed. Why? Because a man would end up exactly like that.

[–]sabazurc 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I would find that as an issue if he was intentionally grooming the kid...but some girls just like older people and it's not grooming. We need to research grooming more to differentiate between grooming and just younger and older adults liking each other.

[–]Terrible_Terrance -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

yikes...

[–]sabazurc 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Nothing to yikes about, if you are an adult woman and while you were minor nobody went out of their way to groom you and teach you some weird values and you still fall in love with older guy...I have no issue with that and I do not care.

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And then she's projecting that "something" could happen haha

[+]BePrivateGirl -20 points-19 points-18 points 3 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

I read the whole article. Where do you get that? Where did she project that?

Haha. Lol.

Are you projecting?

[–]sabazurc 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

I think when she said "adult relationship" it was kinda misleading...she could have just said they were friends.

[–]ebony-mori -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

She is only young, and mostly interacts with kids in their late teens. That’s why it feels like an adult relationship.

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So? Still has to pay for any fuckups, the harsher the better she learns not to try to fuck men over...

[–]ebony-mori 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Since she has not done anything wrong, I don’t think a “harsher the better” lesson is really warranted? In case others didn’t know, I just explained why the wording “adult relationship” makes perfect sense for her to say, and not misleading in the slightest.

It wasn’t an innuendo of any kind, it is literally an adult relationship.

[–]sabazurc 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Naah, her talk about Drake had a weird vibe as well...back then I thought it was Drake saying to her something weird but now it seems like she might be an issue and not the men she interacts with. Or maybe some men were an issue in the past and now she's a bit f-ed up mentally.

[–]ebony-mori 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

I don’t think we can really blame the 14 year old Millie Bobby Brown for the incident with a fully grown man.

How is she a bit f-ed up mentally? I’m not sure where you’re getting this from.

[–]sabazurc 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I am blaming her weird talks...maybe it's journalists who make it look weird but...her talks in these articles have weird vibes. If I was an adult who has not done/said anything weird to her and she's talking like that in interviews...yeah fuk that, I would blame her kid or not, and I would put boundaries as well and in fact I would avoid her like a plague. Saying she used phrase "Adult relationship" innocently...who the fuk taught her how to talk?

[–]ebony-mori -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

As I explained though, the term ‘adult relationship’ fits perfectly in this situation. It’s others inferring too much into the conversation.

The actor above has been very firm with his boundaries with other actors in the last few years- this is nothing new for him. She’s just commenting on what that’s like- in comparison to the relationships she has with her co-stars on Stranger Things.

[–]sabazurc 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link

I do not want to be rude, I just have that manner of speech when I write so hopefully won't offend you...so I will try to explain male perspective since many women in the west do not seem to be able/care to see that perspective. If I am in his position I do not want her to fuking call it "adult relationship", especially considering her weird history with Drake. While some might think it's normal, many won't...and it's pretty fuking clear to me and you seem oblivious. Just do not use such weird phrasing, like wtf. I would be pissed off if I was in similar situation and she said that crap.

And "others inferring too much from conversation" does matter especially when you are fuking Hollywood actor or when someone might connect it with grooming...or when it's both, which is even worse...I wish I could say it does not matter what others think, but that's not the reality, especially when it comes to such issues and you have to be very careful especially if you are a dude.

[–]ebony-mori 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

A relationship can mean romantic, sexual, platonic or familial. When used, it doesn’t inherently mean romantic or sexual. She has clarified their relationship in the article by discussing his strict ‘terms and conditions’ and how she adheres to them.

In this scenario, the terminology that she used is perfect when describing what she is. She was a child when starting stranger things, so she has a sibling like bond with the other kids, and a more parental-child like relationship with the adults. This is her first case of an adult co-worker relationship.

She didn’t do anything wrong with the Drake situation. She was 14 being groomed by an adult man. She spoke out about it not even realising that it was wrong and should not be happening, but was excited that someone as high profile as Drake was talking to her and wanted to be her friend.

While she didn’t mean to get him in trouble, it’s good that she highlighted how creepy Drake was toward her. Someone in their 40s should not be texting back and forth all day with a 14 year old.

[+]ThreadBanger-01 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah the article doesn't suggest that at all. I get annoyed seeing the word projection used inappropriately also.

She hasn't had adult and professional relationships having worked with crewmembers who were kids. She see's him as a positive, strong, and rational male influence.

Headliners have tried to clickbait this is all.

But the person above who got upvoted for painting a picture of her as unstable and just projecting shouldn't have been upvoted. It's just that people want to believe he's right and that's gross.

[–]BePrivateGirl 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am a huge Mens Rights Advocate!! In my comment history in the last 2 hours I’m arguing with people on HandmaidsTale about the dumbest most offensive take on her husband.

It’s all radical feminist bullshit.

But this post, up here, on MensRights, is pretty stupid too. She said he’s an adult that realizes he’s talking to a (beautiful) teenager, and he treats her respectfully.

She didn’t ask him to finger her. He didn’t send her a dick pic.

This article is a nothing-burger.

Let’s talk about some real shit. Like disparities in domestic violence, alimony, and custody.

I’ve seen much more important content in this sub!!

[–]ThreadBanger-01 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's literally nothing if anything it's identifying the importance of healthy relationships and setting a good example.

But yeah. There's an emotional context to a lot of the content that gets posted here and regardless of how people dance around it, much if it is meant to vent frustration and resentment. Not necessarily this post or anything but idk. I'm not saying it's a bad thing either just moreso it's sort of a mix of priorities I think. Productive in different ways.

That handsome man's way is the answer. Mike Pence's rule to avoid all women if your wife is not with you is also something you can give it a try if you want to avoid a Me Too.

It should apply to both sides, not to just husband.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points36 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think it isn’t because he “doesn’t want to get MeToo’d” people should grow up already. He is being a reasonable 40 year old man putting boundaries to his relationship with his star-eyed 18 year old co-star. He’s giving her proportions, not holding in some gross forbidden desire, jfc.

[–]neighborhoodpainter 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Cavill knows what's up. He even made comments about metoo back in 2018 that got him in trouble. Basically saying he doesn't want to get accused of rape if he chases and asks a woman out. And he got a bit of backlash when he dated a 19 year old as a 32 or 33 year old.

An almost 40 year old shouldn’t have anything beyond a professional relationship with an 18 year old, nothing else.

Whenever this is thrown out there, it’s really a haymaker to disdain the elder party. But what’s over looked, is that you’re robbing the younger party of their independence. Which becomes a slippery slope of you believe that then no 18 year olds should be able to sign a contract, vote, or conduct military service. The age gap in any of these scenarios, only bother those who plainly are not getting the attention they desire in their personal romantic relationships.

You're right, two consenting adults should never be allowed to fuck or date

How dare they

Not when one of those adults was out of college before the other adult was born, it’s fucking weird I don’t really care what anyone says.

That is a very American point of view about relationships.

It's perfectly fine.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That really doesn’t matter

The life experience that an 18 year old has versus a 38 year old is just too vast. 18 is still a teenager.

Time to change AoC laws, then? Otherwise, f off. If she is legal age and interested, im not passing an opportunity, because why should I, exactly? Anything "after" isnt my concern, there will not be a second time, obviously, since she iant compatible enough for more.
