Met in highschool, 23 years married and 2 kids. I'm terrified of that day coming. Hell, I don't know how I made this far. Hang in there brother.

Hey man, yeah it's a bitter sweet moment. Congratulations on it being done, and sorry for the headache & pain. In my case together for 17 years, married 12+ years, no kids, separated Oct '21, I filed Feb '22 and divorce signed off Nov 14th. I had gone for a run with my friend, and during the car ride home I had an email from my attorney that the judge had signed off.

I felt a lot of nothing. I wasn't happy, because even though I choose to file I would have preferred in an ideal / magical world we worked it out. She was my first love, I was a virgin when I meant her. She was also emotionally and mentally abusive 😔 The separation and ultimately me filing were a long time coming. I cried some and had waves of guilt hit me. In 3 days we close on the house sale. After that I need to pay her off (lump some from my equity in house sale, so no spousal support going forward after that).

I feel excited about the future, but just neutral about the end of the marriage. Just feel whatever you feel, if something feels negative don't push it way or down. Just embrace it let it wash over you and then wash off. Better days lie ahead.

I see some guys post here about finding a women that actually values and cares about them, that wants to be with them and has genuine attraction. For me thinking about that makes me teary 😢 Actual emotion care. But I'm on the journey of unfucking myself and growth. And it has been so much better, peaceful, stress & drama free then the BS that was my marriage.

You go through ups and downs in life marriage and apparently divorce just take in stride and do your daily routine for now. You ll have a lot of different feelings for a while moving forward. After a while if you feel happier and you are in a better spot in your life you ll look back as you made the right decision so work on being happier you owe that to yourself

I got divorced after 11 years married, 14 together, with two kiddos. Immediately after, it was tears of relief because the legal process was over.

I was really emotionless when I finally got the news the court had accepted the judgment. I wasn't elated, I wasn't crushed. Maybe a little bit of anger and regret for the 16 wasted years of my life, but more kind of resigned acceptance. Full disclosure: I was the petitioner. Ex and I are still on civil, talking terms.

It wasn't for me, but i suspect only because i hung on wayyyyy to long and by the time of the actual divorce court proceedings rolled around, i was already just numb and wanted out of the marriage more then anything (she cheated after 26 years). I went downstairs, grabbed the expensive wedding portrait and set it on fire in my driveway. A symbol of lessons learned, a past happily forgotten and the coronation of my rebirth. It was a somber day, but not awful.

You'll be fine, but please learn from all of this, make sure to never make the same mistakes, aaaaand Hello! to You, YOU have been missing for a very long time, i guarantee it. You're about to become the man you were supposed to be!

Of course you may be sad. You have spent a good part of your life with this person, brought a child into the world together. Big changes ahead. Please get into counseling and read all you can. This is time for you to heal and grow emotionally while you co-parent your child.

You are on an amazing journey. No where to go but up.
