She is a lair by your own short posts: she emptied the account, she got you fired from your last job, she is making treats and in CA the 10y mark exposes you to possible life long alimony. IF you have kids even more unpleasant things lay ahead. The system is fundamentally broken and exists for the sole purpose of extracting resources from you to transfer to her. Lawyers are part of the broken system, but needed to negate it.

You aren't getting your money back. At best, you'll subtract what she withdrew from her part of the marital assets.

You get one chance to do divorce right. It's not the time to DIY. Consider the attorney fees and her taking the money as a lesson learned. Money is a renewable resource. Your sanity is not.

You better make it clear you were not married for 10 years, because in CA there is no duration placed on spousal support for a long term (10+ year) marriage.

I would start looking on google, or contact your family and see if they can recommend anyone. print and save all transactions over the last at least year (bank statement withdrawals, deposits etc) Save text messages, emails, whats apps etc. just start saving everything. Print it, put it in a binder and hide it somewhere

First question...Does she have a lawyer? If she does, I would highly advise you to get one. The more you can agree to in principle in advance, the less expensive it will be. If she's super argumentative and contentious, it could be expensive, but all the more reason to retain counsel.

I know $6-7k seems expensive, but if your attorney is good, it's well worth it.
