4 or 5 years ago, R&B singer Omarion got circumcised for his girlfriend. 2 years ago, they broke up. Relationships are temporary but genital mutilation lasts forever.

Because tradition, and that sadly often overrides rational thought or empathy (especially in the case of men, where there is not much empathy to be found directed towards them).

[–]BirdLaw51 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Specifically, religious tradition.

[–]fuckyfuc 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Empathy is the keyword. None for men or boys.

[–]labink 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It isn’t ok. Genitalia mutilation is a barbaric, cruel and uncivilized thing to do. It is enforced by powerful entities on the innocent and helpless, mostly infants and children.

[–]BlaisePascal1123 38 points39 points40 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I am a woman. I never agreed with or understood the barbaric practice of cutting a baby's dick. I'm very happy to hear other humans also realize that cutting baby's dicks is probably a shit idea.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oftentimes, women who are not yet mothers are the most receptive to this, because parents don't want to admit they harmed their children and men don't want to admit that they themselves were harmed.

[–]labink 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Probably a shit idea? It is a shit idea. Absolutely no “probably” about it. If someone wishes to undergo circumcision, that individual should be allowed to make the choice for them self.

[–]M8753 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed - genital mutilation should only be done voluntarily by an adult (though why would anyone ever???), not forced on anyone.

But what's up with the styling in this article? Everything is bolded and/or italicised, has a different font and size. That does not make it easier to read:D

[–]Bikertron12 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (25 children) | Copy Link

When I was 3 or 4 I had a hernia and undescended testicle, I went under general ana and ‘while they were down there’ they performed a circumcision. This was in the early 80s in South London, the surgeons would have told my parents what they were going to do and my parents probably signed off without a moment’s thought.

I’m suddenly moved to pursue if that’s actually the reason but as I understand it was common practice at the time.

[–]Sininenn 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (24 children) | Copy Link

The EXACT SAME THING happened to me around 19 years ago.

I said NO!, once the doctor suggested also mutilating my genitalia, yet here I am. I was a freaking child and I couldn't understand that these two aren't inseparable.

It makes me furious. And the worst part is I'll never get justice for what was done

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Sorry that it has affected you this way. I was so young that I thought nothing of it at the time and have then grown up considering it nothing out of the ordinary.

[–]Sininenn 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

I did too. Until I started losing sensitivity in the head of my penis, it's discoloration turning ever worse, constant friction, sometimes even pain, the realization that they removed the most sensitive parts of my genitals, which will turn even less sensitive with time, makes me sick, even after I denied it...

Not to mention the psychological effects, as well as such blatant ignorance of my own demands and needs by my mother, a person who was supposed to care for me...

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Do you mind if I ask how old you are now?

[–]Sininenn 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I'm in my mid-20s. So it's only going to get worse. And by law of my country, it is "too late to complain". There's no way I can get justice for this horrific thing.

I wonder what the point of it all is in the end...

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I'm sorry all this happened to you. I have no complaint other than the principle of it being done when I was too young to make an informed decision.

[–]Sininenn 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Well, you should have more. The truth is that they claim all bunch of "medical benefits" which are either not medically true or just cultural bias disguised as medicine.

There is plenty of materials online that falsify all the medical claims based on the nature of the data itself or the ethical hypocrisy and gender discrimination in the current policy on FGM

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I meant, I hadn’t experienced the physical effects you described; I agree with you about all the rest. I’d even wager a cabal of medical practitioners just want to reduce the sexual pleasure experienced by whole generations of males

[–]Sininenn 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I mean, it's just sickening. If you want to know more, look at r/intactivists.

What makes my case worse, in my opinion, os that I had to go through the surgery because a girl kicked me into my scrotum, to "see what it does", which caused one testicle to ascend, not to mention the incredible pain.

[–]nugymmer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's more about the easy money than any inherent desire to hurt infants.

Doctors who do this should know that it is wrong. Better to go after these doctors than gullible parents.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wonder what the point of it all is in the end...

Probably to help Dr. Mutilator pay for another yacht or something, that's why most doctors push these mutilations

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Look up foreskin restoration and foregen.org

[–]Sininenn 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Restoration is, in my opinion, a consolation prize, for which you need to wear a humiliating make-shift device.

Foregen will take years to be commercially available, and even then at probably high prices.

Neither of those will fix the psychological and interpersonal damages it has caused.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree. But restoration has helped my mental state a lot tbh.

[–]spacegrayalien 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

There’s an organization called r/foregen using stem cells to regrow foreskin (including nerve endings, structures, etc). If you want to check out their site it’s Foregen.org.

[–]Sininenn -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Look. I'm gonna be blunt here.

Foregen is not yet available. And when it is, in 20 years, I am not going to be able to afford it. And we all know governments won't fund this.

Nothing can fix all the damage done. I don't need false hope.

[–]Cazumarzu 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Didn't they say they were going to have payment plans a while back? Affordability won't be an issue then.

[–]spacegrayalien 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Where are you getting 20 years from? Human trials are predicted for next year and public availability in 2020/2021. I’m not trying to give you false hope. The more support Foregen gets the better.

[–]Sininenn -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

And what if the human trials go wrong? What if they don't manage to prototype until then?

You can't be acting like it's a solution with a set day when it's done and ready. They don't know that, how do you?

You can be optimistic all you want. That doesn't change the fact that they have no idea when they're going to be ready to sell it, what the cost will be (and I don't think I'll be able to afford it) and whether it will actually work at all.

So yeah, it is kind of a false hope, because you build on fragile assumptions. I am going to remain skeptical.

[–]Cazumarzu 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

If they don't manage to develop the treatment by then? That's kinda up to the money and resources they have, which is kinda up to us, considering that they take donations, and in the future, investments.

What if they go wrong? There's absolutely no evidence that that will happen, and all types of evidence with other regenerative medicine experiments done by various people that it will be 100% successful(rabbit penises fully regrown and functional already, human vaginal canal grown for girls born with partial ones, all successful). Everybody's pretending that it's gonna be a disaster for no reason, and I don't know why.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If had just one minute alone in a room with the doctor who mutilated me, I wouldn't need another minute with him afterwards.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bjj skills going to come in handy lol. I was still on oxygen when I was cut.

[–]platesizedareola 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hope my country bans it soon. The public wants it to happen but our politicians are too scared to go ahead and do it.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It may not be as surgically extreme as the female version...

NO, hard stop on that right there!

This is the same misinformation bullshit that gets trotted out by everyone defending circumcision, we don't need the same lies perpetuated by people thinking they're arguing against it.

FGM is defined as literally "anything" done to female genitals, and many kinds of female "mutilation" are far, far less extreme than male circumcision.

The fact is our society values female genitals far more highly than male genitals... To the point where horrific damage to male sex organs is common comedy fodder.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Fine: It may not be as surgically extreme as the worst types of female genital cutting, which are constantly and falsely portrayed as the vast majority of FGC by the Western media.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's the core of the problem. Everything from a needle prick is counted as FGM and then disingenuously presented as if all FGM were is the most horrific and rarest kind.

There's so much outright dishonesty surrounding FGM, that the misinformation about male circumcision doesn't seem innocent or accidental.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Both are terrible! Both are done to mostly non-consenting children and they are held down or strapped down because the pain is so excruciating. Both should be outlawed!

My son is whole.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're a great mother, thank you for protecting your son.

I'm mutilated, but my sons will be left whole if I ever have any.

[–]anytipswelcomed 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's not okay. Americans are just retarded per usual.

[–]brober23 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]bluetruckapple 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not for nothing but my dick still works just fine. They didnt cut the head off so I feel nothing to save me for my wife.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Your dick doesn't work as well as it would have if half of the skin hadn't been amputated.

[–]bluetruckapple 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Porn seems to disagree.

Also, what I'm saying isnt an argument for it... I'm just pointing out that the two 'procedures' are the same in result or intent. At all.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Porn is not an accurate depiction of sex...it's heavily staged and edited.

Male circumcision is as detrimental to male pleasure as female circumcision is to female pleasure.

[–]rawbface 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

To people in other countries: circumcision rates in the USA are dropping fortunately, however to ensure it keeps dropping, or gets outlawed entirely, we can't vilify circumcised men.

The FGM argument is a powerful one, but if you look at the comments on this very thread, it very quickly escalates from a "what's the big deal?" level of ignorance to "circumcised men are disgusting mutilated freaks of nature" argument. This doesn't help the cause.

It's not uncircumcised men that are circumcising their baby boys. A compassionate approach is needed. After all, there is nothing wrong with being circumcised. It's a consent issue, and doing it to baby boys is barbaric and unconscionable, as well as dangerous.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

circumcised men are disgusting mutilated freaks of nature

Circumcised penises are disgusting and mutilated, but it's not a freak of nature. Freak of nature implies it was always that way.

Circumcision is a deliberate injury, not an unfortunate birth defect.

It's not uncircumcised men that are circumcising their baby boys

No, it's overwhelmingly uncircumcised women who are doing it.

there is nothing wrong with being circumcised

Wrong.

[–]rawbface 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is what I'm talking about. I'm a circumcised male, who agrees with the movement, and yet you want to alienate me. Why? Are you so insecure that you need to assert some sort of superiority regarding your own penis?

Even if these statements were not subjective (they are), they are non sequiturs. The issue is consent, not the actual surgery.

[–]nugymmer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

it's overwhelmingly uncircumcised women who are doing it.

No, it's circumcised men who want to carry on the "tradition". The mothers consent because they don't know any better!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Mothers sign the majority of mutilation/circumcision consent forms in hospitals.

[–]nugymmer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Again, because they don't know any better.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

That doesn't mean they're off the hook. They are still mutilators, even if they meant no harm.

[–]nugymmer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Of course...but it's going to be difficult to bring up the topic around anyone who subjected their kid or kids to this.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

And a lot of mothers know it's bad but do it anyway

[–]nugymmer 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Yes, because the fathers bully them into doing it. Most of the women I know who did it, did it because the fathers pressured them into doing it and wouldn't budge no matter what the woman said. That has been my experience in Australia.

Later these women have to defend what they did, and it's very difficult for them.

Frankly I feel sorry for them. No, they shouldn't have signed the consent form, but the father of their child was right behind their shoulders when they signed the form.

If it were my child and I were a woman, I would have hit him in the face with a frying pan if he'd told me that my son had to be cut.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Don't you need consent from both parents in Australia?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Who cares if they were pressured into doing it? They still did it.

I feel a lot more sorry for the sons, the true victims, than I do for the mothers who did this to them.

If my mother ever told me she felt bad about it, I'd tell her to drown in her tears for all that I care.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sadly, most of the moms I know were talked into it by their husbands. They cave because "they don't have a penis".

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're still guilty, even if they weren't the ones who set the whole thing in motion. Even if you're not the one causing the horrible acts, going along with them is still bad.

And I would not stay friends with any woman who circumcised her son unless she was Jewish or Muslim.

[–]maluminse -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

  • Easier hygiene. Circumcision makes it simpler to wash the penis. However, boys with uncircumcised penises can be taught to wash regularly beneath the foreskin.Decreased risk of urinary tract infections. The risk of urinary tract infections in males is low, but these infections are more common in uncircumcised males. Severe infections early in life can lead to kidney problems later.

  • Decreased risk of sexually transmitted infections. Circumcised men might have a lower risk of certain sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Still, safe sexual practices remain essential.Prevention of penile problems.Occasionally, the foreskin on an uncircumcised penis can be difficult or impossible to retract (phimosis). This can lead to inflammation of the foreskin or head of the penis.

  • Decreased risk of penile cancer. Although cancer of the penis is rare, it's less common in circumcised men. In addition, cervical cancer is less common in the female sexual partners of circumcised men.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

  • Pulling your teeth makes it easier to clean your mouth, what's your point?

  • No matter what, you still have to engage in safe sex. So would you rather cut off half of your penis and wear a condom, or just wear a condom without cutting off half of your penis?

  • Then how come (mostly intact) European men don't have higher rates of penile cancer than (mostly cut) American men?

[–]maluminse -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yikes a 1/4 inch of skin is half your penis?

I'll go with the medical professionals.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The foreskin is half of the penile skin, and most medical professionals in Europe, Oceania, and Canada are anti-circumcision.

[–]maluminse -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Apparently not, given the rise in popularity. No it's not half. We disagree. Good day.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The circumcision rate is decreasing amongst all Western groups, although some European countries are having an influx of Islamic migrants which is driving up the rates there.

The US infant circumcision rate is about 60% now. It was about 85% 50 years ago.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ever heard of a shower. That's how easy it is to clean. And if a little girl gets a UTI they give her antibiotics, not surgery. The HIV transmission rates are way lower in countries where men aren't cut? Penile cancer is extremely rare for anyone, cut or whole.

You need to re-think your arguments.

[–]croidhubh -5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Because you have to be an idiot to not understand the massive difference between the two

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Both are non consensual cutting on the genitals of people. What are you on about?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're pretty similar. Both involve amputation of functional, healthy, tissue from non-consenting children.

The increased risk for UTI and Balanitis was only found to increase ~2% for uncircumcised INFANTS.The overall rate of infection is less than 2 cases in 100 live births. This includes infections that were treated outpatient and considered mild. The rate of DEATH caused directly or indirectly ( by infections/complications) by cicumcision is a higher percentage of circumcised boys. No significant increases in any health issues have been found where general hygiene is maintained.

For many years, improper scientific method has been used to argue for circumcision. The biggest flaw has been to link causation incorrectly. “This area has a low incidence of circumcision. It also has a high incidence of STD. Therefore, lack of circumcision must increase STD risk.” This completely ignores the persons actions towards hygiene and std prevention.

When all things are accounted for, there are no significant risks associated with being uncircumcised and a number of risks associated with being circumcised. Namely, death. That’s not even getting into the fact that the foreskin has been found to be a primarily sensory organ, so looping it off does, without question affect sexual function in some manner.

[+]beardedbarnabas -18 points-17 points-16 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

%1.3 of all neonatal deaths is no more significant than your other stats.

[–]mgm-survivor 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

1/10% of cut boys dealing with often lifelong painful urination trumps all these stats, and that is only one of the hundreds of possible complications to add to the risks, none of which exist if the child is left alone, and more importantly none can be blamed upon an agent.

This attempt to pine out minuscule risks to lopping off an organ equivalent to ones lips, cheeks and portions of the tongue is simply grotesque.

Do not rape children with knives.

100% of circumcisions reduce penile sensitivity and diminish the victim's sex life.

[–]beardedbarnabas -5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

100%? Are you serious? For every study you can find concluding that (though I doubt any will say conclusively 100% because thats fucking absurd), I can find 2 concluding the difference is insignificant, or more pleasurable. 100%....ha, clueless. To say that it will absolutely diminish ones sex life shows your understanding of the scientific method.

100% of circumcisions remove the most sensitive parts of the penis.

[–]beardedbarnabas 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I guess I didn’t realize the frenulum was removed in a circumcision. I thought it was just the foreskin.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Most circumcisions remove the frenulum in whole or part, but the foreskin itself is also very sensitive.

[–]Daemonicus 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

According to your logic, women should have their breasts, and cervix removed so that they can't get cancer in those parts. Not really logical, is it?

Also I'm assuming you're just parroting those "studies" that were based on a minuscule sample size of men, where the methodology was not the only thing flawed about them.

Do you know why getting cut reduced the risk of STIs/STDs in that study? Because they had less sex, and raped less... Which is generally something that happens when you get a piece of your genitals cut off.

And the best way to not get infections, is to actually wash your dick. Not something all that common in the poorer parts of Africa.

It's amazing how there are no epidemics for the problems you listed in the countries that don't really approve of the practice, where most men aren't cut. Something to think about I guess.

[+][deleted] -61 points-60 points-59 points 8 years ago (94 children) | Copy Link

Who cares? Unless you want your penis to look like some ugly worm instead of a mushroom head then you get circumcised, now stop bitching like a bunch of women.

[–]Daemonicus 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I'd rather have a soft and sensitive glans, then a leathery one. Plus, I assume you've never experienced the joy of someone using their tongue on your foreskin. Too bad, I guess.

Way to live up to your name though.

[+][deleted] -18 points-17 points-16 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Leathery? What dicks are you sucking over where you live?

[–]Daemonicus 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

It's not rocket science... It's quite obvious, and logical when you consider what happens, and the actual purpose of foreskin.

It's the same reason why your finger tips, and feet are rougher than your inner forearm, and other parts of your skin. Here's a hint... It's due to abrasion. You ever seen the difference between a barefoot runner, and someone who gets pedicures?

[+][deleted] -9 points-8 points-7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Okay so here's the thing. You can't be dry humping all the damn time boy, you need to get the juices flowing first.

[–]Daemonicus 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Dry humping" is what happens when clothing is rubbing up against your exposed penis, all day.

But at this point you've become the "i troll u" meme, and it stopped being worth it.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's what I meant in the first place. Hey you're the one who said your dick is like leather, I'm just sitting here trying piece together what your rubbing up against to do that?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

A penis isn't supposed to look like a "mushroom head".

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

This is what's considered normal in the US. You will be circumcised at birth, we will not ask you for permission.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I'd rather do what's right than do what's wrong just because it's considered "normal".

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

What's right is subjective, and if you want to be different and deprive your sons of a chance to be normal in this country that's completely up to you. Just know what we do to people who are different from the rest of us.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The infant circumcision rate in America is down to 60%, so leaving them intact won't make them unusual.

How do you completely ignore that the vast majority of men prefer to be circumcised, they’re glad they had it done at birth instead having to do it after puberty, and they’re thankful their parents made that decision for them? The only argument I see on here for ignoring that reality is your claim that somehow ALL these circumcised men are ignorant and you are a special kind of woke because you Google shit. [–]HeForeverBleeds 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

ALL these circumcised men are ignorant

In fact, ignorance plays a huge role for men who say they're fine with it. Additionally, the vast majority of women circumcised as infants also say they're fine with it, so by your reasoning this makes female circumcision okay. So what was it you were saying about emotion over logic?

Not to mention, someone unhappy that they were not cut can have it done as adults. It may be more inconvenient, but it's not impossible. Someone traumatized or who otherwise recognizes the negative affects from being cut cannot undo it, period. If a functioning body part is there, the default should be to keep it. Like it already is with all functioning body parts, besides the foreskin

[–]PM_ME_UR_PC_SPECS 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What?

First of all, sources please.

Second of all, what about the large minority who did NOT want to be circumcised? Hmmm?

Way I see it, you should have to be a consenting adult or have a health risk to get a circumcison.

It is not hard, it is basic decency.

I am okay with people choosing to consent to sex, but I am NOT OK with the parents being allowed to consent for the child.

Circumcision is performed because it makes it easier for boys to keep clean, Uncircumsized penises get all sorts of gross cheese and stuff inside the flaps, and if you don't keep them clean enough, it can get infected.

Absolute bullshit. European men are intact and they do just fine. I've never experienced dick cheese with the men I've been with but it sounds like you have? Sounds like a personal problem. As a woman, we also make smegma, get yeast infections etc. Should we start altering little girls genitals to make it "easier to clean" with all our skin flaps? You sound like a moron.

Yes.

How come we dont hear these stories in the rest of the world where men are intact and usually stay that way from birth to death?

Because American's are lazy, we'd rather mutilate our child's genitals than take the time required to properly teach them how to clean themselves.

I don't advocate or agree with what we do, I'm only pointing out the medical reasons behind it, as was requested by OP.

[–]platesizedareola 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

So you'd rather mutilate genitals than shower like the rest of the world?! Bullshit. It's a cultural thing, thats all. In fact, worse. Genital mutilation disguised as "medicine" in the land of the 'free'.

Did I say we didn't shower? No, I said we're too lazy to teach our boys how to properly clean themselves, hell - we even have the sex ed teachers teach our girls how to clean themselves, rather than having the parents do it.

I'm sure a large part of it is religious reasons, and as I said, I don't agree or advocate for it. So i'm not sure why you're attacking my statements like i'm arguing with you.

Or they'd rather just butcher their son's dick because they're afraid that teaching himself to clean it would potentially lead to masturbation. We can't have that, can we?

People who think like this deserve a bullet in the brain.

[–]Talbooth 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I would rather spend daily 15 seconds cleaning it than getting the skin cut off. By this logic you should get your nose and related things removed because gross stuff is inside it and if too much gets left in there it causes infections. But you don't do it, because it's better to take some seconds sometimes cleaning it.

[+]twiztedterry -8 points-7 points-6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

By this logic you should get your nose and related things removed because gross stuff is inside it and if too much gets left in there it causes infections. But you don't do it, because it's better to take some seconds sometimes cleaning it.

That is an awful metaphor, blowing your nose is much simpler for a child to do than cleaning their genitals uncircumsized, and the most dangerous thing that will happen if you don't blow your nose is that your nose will become clogged, in addition - your nostrils are 100% necessary, both to provide you with warm, moist air to breathe, and to filter any large particles from that air. Without nostrils, you'll likley get a large amount of respiratory infecitons, and could possibly lead to pneumonia.

With the penis though, the foreskin serves no vital purpose for the human body, the excess moisture and heat in that area is prime for bacteria growth, and studies have shown that uncirucmised males are a higher risk of Yeast Infections, Skin Infections and Urinary Tract infections, this risk is especially bad in children, as kids who can't communicate effectively can't tell their parents or caregiver that they've got an infection.

In short, lots of bad comes from removing something like your nostrils, but nothing bad comes from removing the foreskin.

Same as cleaning a fingertip. LOL. It doesn't even need to retract until it separates naturally. You are aware that this membrane is glued to the glans during infancy and early childhood.

Serves no vital purpose other than being the most sensitive part of the penis? Some nonvital function you got there!

Looks like you need to do some research bro.

This is true, though doing this when they're children is near impossible, since the teeth haven't grown in yet.

In addition to that, removing all teeth makes things more difficult and expensive than removing the foreskin.

Even if it were true, and it's not, why should young boys have their genitals mutilated to appeal to women's sexual fantasies? It's wrong for every reason

An infant boy doesn't need to be sexually attractive, so at best it shouldn't be done until he chooses it for himself at 18. But really, "women like it" is a stupid reason to pressure a male to be mutilated at any age. You might as well have all young girls get labiaplasty because "no man wants to look at roast beef labia"
