I read a government statistic about a year ago that mothers are most often child abusers, it doesn't matter if they're biological.

This struck accord for me because my dad, who had not been able to adopt me for years, always had to deal with the "abusive step dad" stigma. When my mom was actually the one abusing me.

People just have this misandrist mentality that mothers are the gentle goddesses of children and that father's are deadbeat, useless abusers. And of they are found guilty of abuse, it's written off as mental illness/breakdown.

How do they truly determine IQ in such cases as a defense? The only statement made in the article claims that she has a diminished capacity, being an IQ of 76 or less. But what type of pathology, methodology and testing is considered standardized practice for such determinations. And what follow up testing is offered for the purpose of legitimatizing the claim? Surely the prosecution would request their own testing parameters to determine if the defense has legitimacy to it.
