Often when male abuse victims get discussed, feminists come back with “the power dynamic is different and men should fight back” which is just totally ridiculous- that mindset must be partially why some men don’t come forward. Abuse is abuse, it doesn’t matter if you have a todger or a fanny. It’s not a gendered issue- anyone can experience abuse. You sometimes see double standards on TV (E.g. a woman may casually slap a man in frustration, when you just know that it would be deemed abusive when it was the other way round- why’s it allowed one way?) and when you call that double standard out, you get the seemingly standard reply by radfems that “the power dynamic is different”… what kind of warped “power dynamic” allows women to abuse men? Another example was Love Island (I despise that show but my sister watches it so I have to endure it sometimes)- there was this woman (who was about 30) a few years ago who forced herself onto a male contestant (who was about 20) to try and get him to kiss her…. she wasn’t kicked off the show, despite a male contestant being kicked off for play-fighting…. Imagine the backlash if it was the other way round? They often seem to have double standards about age gap relationships…. A man dating younger women is supposedly predatory, but a woman dating younger men is empowering. A lot of this logic is very contradictory. This woman also tried pressuring another contestant into having sex, guilt-tripping him- again, if that was the other way round, it would be considered a bit rapey and again the male contestant would be likely to be kicked off the show, but nope, crickets when it’s a predatory woman. The social media reaction from feminists at the time was that it’s unfair to call her predatory as “the power dynamic” is different. If these radical feminists are truly striving for an equal world, then why do they let women off Scot-free, rather than calling both men and women out for their actions? It’s the same action, just with the genders swapped, why do they excuse toxic female-on-male behaviour by mentioning “power dynamics” but go ballistic over male-on-female behaviour? Surely if they truly cared about equality, they’d go ballistic over both. It seems to be the mindset of “women were oppressed for thousands of years so we’re just evening out the score”- surely that’s not beneficial to anybody? Because it means the return of the double standards that (real) feminists (not the radfems of today) fought to put an end to… so again, that logic seems contradictory.
