There's a whole lot of misogyny to unravel here, actually. Retailers often usually only carry small sizes and deliberately mismeasure women so they can cram them into sizes they carry. They do this by giving more and more Band size until the underwire sits on your boob, giving you "quadboob" and causing tissue Migration that took six months in my case to return from "half my tit lives in my armpit" to normal. More than 80% of women do not wear their correct bra size and once you have developed an eye for it, you can see how poorly the women and Mannequins in advertising are fitted. Like you said, this can cause tissue tearing, back pain and much more PLUS the discomfort of being in an ill fitting garment all day. A well fitted one does not hurt, chafe or poke.

I buy my bras at Ewa Michalak, Ewa is great. She handmakes every piece and you can commission special sizes and requirements (I did when my mother had had her cancer surgery). I also encourage everyone here to check out the bra fitting subs of reddit and get themselves fitted properly.

ETA: Freya and wonderbra also carry non-standard sizes, and I think they have sports bras. Measurements can vary a little between retailers and the different shapes can also make a big difference.

There are some really good companies that make very specifically sized sports bras that go all the way down to small size rib cages with large chest. There are also sports bras with special straps that you can tighten down to keep your breasts in place.

May I recommend getting fitted at a shop that caters more towards breast cancer survivors? I've found them to be really tactful and polite. They're much better prepared for helping women with bust/band ratio issues, with uneven or unusually shaped breasts, or with other fitting struggles. I went there myself because I was struggling to find just a well fitted day bra due to being pretty uneven, and they helped me find a few really good alternatives, one of which is very much like a sports bra (the only reason I don't really wear it now is because of an elastic allergy). Not only are they trained to be very compassionate, they also have greater access to prosthetics or other specialty fitting items that might help a bra fit better and more comfortably. I highly recommend going to such a place.

I have this problem too, skinny but big chest, and I honestly wish I could just cut them off. I'd be so much happier, I started cycling instead of running cos I was sick of it.

I'm not petite and I'm 'only' a D, but it's nearly impossible to find a decent sports bra. Every time I buy athletic clothes I throw in a few sports bras to see if I can find any winners, and they're almost always unsupportive and terrible. Never occurred to me how wild that really is!

I'm a 34GG and absolutely love wearing Shock Absorber's N109 sports bra. When I first bought one years ago I was so excited that I made my mum watch me jump up and down. She was like, "What am I looking at? They're not moving." I played a ton of sport over the years and it's the only sports bra I've ever felt comfortable in.

That being said head to r/ABraThatFits. They have loads of resources and eceryone there is super friendly and have great tips and information etc.

I used to marathon run and was a 28 FFF; my sports bra was Enell, which is sold on Amazon. The smallest size fits a 28/30 waist with a C cup or larger. Always felt super secure to me.

Ugh... I don't run partly due to fear of this sort of thing, but when I ride horses I usually have to wear two sports bras so they don't bounce up and down to the point of hurting.
