Credit cards are an option, unfortunately they aren't a good one. Open one, pay the lawyer, then find another one that has zero interest on balance transfers for a year and transfer the balance. Do this multiple times if necessary.

Can the guy be amicable with the stbx? Avoiding a court case with politeness can be cheap.

Yea Ill piggy back off the advice of others, at least you have nothing to lose. You can just sit through the BS and let it go to court then hope the best decision is made. Im not going to lie, still very scary.

pay the lawyer for each task. he does not need to be there for each phone call. yea, you may need to rehash the history, but worth it.

btw, divorce is not a task. it is your goal.
