For a movement purportedly fighting for equality, they really do hate anyone and anything trying to help men with their legitimate issues and complaints. During those protests, they were acting like retards.

[–]63daddy 98 points99 points100 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism has lobbied for and won many laws that advantage women and discriminate against men. The MRA in contrast is focused on achieving equality and has not been lobbying for men to be legally advantaged. That’s the big difference between the two movements in my opinion.

Find me an instance where mra's protested against gender neutral laws...

Or a single case where MRAs rioted in the streets to protest actual, legally codified gender equality, such as equalising retirement ages.

Ive encountered way more toxic feminists than I have with toxic MRAS.

[–]sgt_oddball_17 63 points64 points65 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those examples do not exist.

Feminism - come for the equality, stay for the special privileges.

[–]ALiteralAngryMoose 39 points40 points41 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Quite. There absolutely are some men who genuinely hate women, etc etc et al. Those men are fucking bonkers. The immense majority of MRAs, wish to have our problems taken seriously.

[–]Acceptable_Visit604 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, but those aren't really MRAs, those are just drifting somewhere in the manosphere

[–]reverbiscrap 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I gotta ask because I see this sentiment a lot: what is the 'manosphere' to you? I listen to the podcasts of several PhDs and political analysts who call themselves manosphere commentators, and Kevin Samuels (RIP the 🐐) but I imagine that most people think of Fresh and Fit, I guess.

[–]NibblyPig 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Those men are fucking bonkers

They become less bonkers every day though

Feminism: masculinity's enemy

[–]AspirationsOfFreedom 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think we need to take a step back here: individuals can be just as bad.

But the entire movement isn't

[+]AndyesIdumb -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I agree, and you can really pick out the bad apples in the movement too if you know where to look. Intersectional feminists are okay, radical feminists are usually the ones who aren't.

[–]AspirationsOfFreedom 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh by far. And some of the best feminists i've talked to chose that group over egalitarianism due to the historic value.

I think examples of bad apples are those here advocating for being deadbeat dads, who advocate for violence or abusing women.

[+]AndyesIdumb 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't really know much about the historic value, it sounds interesting. And I agree, and people who seem to want to treat feminists how some feminists have treated them. Basicaly they're advocating to be a toxic civil rights group similar to the one they dislike, and weridly I've seen actul radfem phrases used on here, just switched.

They tried to be so different they just ended up having the same stance but inversed.

[–]Za__guy 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I did say that

But to be more accurate I was saying they will become like feminist where they start good. Achieve equallity, keep marching for more rights for the next 40-100 years

[+]AndyesIdumb 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do like where intersectional feminism is going. It's trying to address class struggles too which seem to be hitting men really hard, things like poverty and homelessness. And I do like the push for mental health support for men.

[+]tomowudi -20 points-19 points-18 points 3 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

I think there is a bit missing from your analysis.

Feminism is a bigger movement than MRA's. As a result, if 20% of ANY and EVERY group are shitty extremists, there will be more shitty extremists under feminism than MRA's. That doesn't make MRA membership "better" - it just means that smaller groups have smaller numbers of shitty extremists.

There is also the nature of bad actors - MRA extremists are also closely associated with white nationalism and right wing extremism. These groups will engage in "leaderless resistance" or "lone wolf terrorism" more frequently. https://www.ojp.gov/pdffiles1/nij/grants/248691.pdf

So you are more likely to see these acts not necessarily directly affiliated with a coordinated attack so much as initiated by an individual who is affiliated with those groups.

Try raising any issue that affects men on AskFeminists or some other feminist subreddit and see how they gonna react.

I bet my life that reaction would be very poor indeed.

[–]Current_Finding_4066 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If they are doing that from the false premise of patriarchy and men's supposed oppression of women, it is simply demeaning to all actual male victims of oppression.

I will check it out.

[+]AndyesIdumb -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thanks for being open minded mate. We don't have to agree but it is nice to be able to talk about things.

And like here, there's a variety of opinions over there and not all reflect the overall view of the sub. Also if I find a post about how women can be complicit in women's oppression too I'll try and send it to you, it's a big topic in most feminist circles. I think it's quite incorrect to imply that men are the only ones who can be oppressive to women, or that all men inherently are. Like right now they're talking about how not like other girls perpetuate harmful ideas about women.

[–]wumbo-inator 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You mean the radical men that were radicalized because they had nowhere to go since they saw the left’s offering of “gender equality” and man-hating feminism, so they ran far away in the other direction?

If the left proposed true gender equality instead of feminism, men wouldn’t have to run from the left and go down an alt-right pipeline.

Much of the “lone wolf” actor types you mention were struggling with some kind of sexism/masculinity issues (Elliot Rodgers/fatherlessness) and would have been less likely to do anything bad, if not PROBABLY have been saved, if a true voice for gender equality addressed their male-specific issues.

These are boys and men that are reacting to society giving up on them. If society opted for gender equality by forgoing feminism on the left and ditching restrictive gender roles on the right, we wouldn’t be in this pickle.

[+]AndyesIdumb 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Weirdly the kinds of feminists who attack men, radical feminists, are also going down the alt-right pipeline so. J.K Rowling is a trans exclusionary radical feminist and she hangs out with people who have been quoted talking about a "final solution".

[–]wumbo-inator -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah the whole TERF rift is super weird. Rowling hangs out with SUPER shady people. And for some reason the right-wing accepts Rowling just because she’s trans-exclusionary and ignore the fact that Rowling is still incompatible with the right in pretty much every way.

I guess hating trans people is all it takes to be accepted by the right nowadays.. idk

[+]AndyesIdumb 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's weird right? Idk either, though she is pretty antisemitic, that gives you points with the right as well. And she wrote a race of elves that wanted to be enslaved... in hindsight that was a little suspicious lol.

[–]sorebum405 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't see men's rights activists mentioned anywhere in the paper you linked. Also,i disagree with your claim that the difference is due to the absolute number of radical individuals in the movement being smaller. The feminist who do these kinds of things are not just obscure radical individuals, they are literally people who gained prominence in the movement, and also large feminist organizations as well. You don't see this in the MRM because it would not be allowed.

[–]EricAllonde 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is also the nature of bad actors - MRA extremists are also closely associated with white nationalism and right wing extremism.

Yawn. The usual, lazy feminist attempts to smear MRAs. Everyone sees through that nonsense, it's not worth even bothering to respond to it.

[+]Withnail-is-life -65 points-64 points-63 points 3 years ago* (29 children) | Copy Link

I mean people claiming to be for "mens rights" have murdered people.

Edit: so a few horrible feminists represent the movement, but a few mens rights activists who are evil don't? I see.

[–]duhhhh 51 points52 points53 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Roy Den Hollander? The one denounced and kicked out of several men's rights groups years before he did it? Compared to Valerie Solanas or Donna Hylton who are still widely supported after they did it?

[–]ElisaSKy 27 points28 points29 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also, that guy's first murder was of Marc Angelucci, so murdering an actual MRA with several won battles under his belt makes me seriously question how much "for men's rights" he really was.

Assuming it was even him to begin with, considering the sheer amount of weirdness in that case. He could have been driven nuts by a terminal illness and acted completely crazy all on his own, or just been crazy to begin with...

But considering how many people who go on rampages these days turn out to have had contacts with glowies whom encouraged them... I have my doubts, NGL.

All these valid replies, did they change your mind at all? Even a little?

[+]Withnail-is-life -21 points-20 points-19 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I've read them and am totally willing to have my mind changed. I was replying to a ridiculous post arguing who is "worse" mens rights activists vs. Feminists with an equally ridiculous argument. Why the he'll are we trying to argue who has it worse rather than coming together to fix society? Blaming feminism is so unhelpful since its literally the reason I am even allowed to debate this with you guys.

[–]LettuceBeGrateful 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Blaming feminism is so unhelpful

Duluth model, excluding men from equality statistics, denying a man's presumption of innocence, successfully opposing gender neutral family court and rape laws...but yeah, let's just look the other way as the largest, most institutionalized social movement in the west actively fights against men's rights.

[+]AndyesIdumb -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yup, have of the posts on her are just about owning feminists. It doesn't help men at all.

[–]jjj2576 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I mean, people claiming to be for “women’s rights” have murdered people.

[+]Withnail-is-life -23 points-22 points-21 points 3 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. There are horrible people in every group. So why demonise feminism when it has done so much good over the last 100 years? The way this post is worded makes it sounds like we are trying to find out who is worse? Feminists vs men's rights activists. This is the exact opposite of what should be happening.

[–]jjj2576 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your first response to this post was demonizing the MRA movement.

You are the problem.

[–]Greg_W_Allan 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists were responsible for decades of exclusion from mental health services experienced by male victims of child sexual abuse in my country. Thousands of suicides later we still have no answer as to why.

[–]EricAllonde 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So why demonise feminism when it has done so much good over the last 100 years?

Feminism has done no good at all.

The suffragettes, who were arguably not really feminists at all, gained women the same right to vote that men had, but without the same responsibility to be drafted, fight and die for their country that men have to carry.

Feminism has continued that pattern ever since: demanding ever-more special privileges, benefits & advantages over men, all the time, in all circumstances, and without limitation while exempting women from more & more of the responsibilities men face.

The way this post is worded makes it sounds like we are trying to find out who is worse?

That question is entirely settled: there is no comparison. MRAs simply want gender equality including equal legal rights. MRAs want the gender equality that feminists lied about wanting.

Meanwhile, feminism today is the single biggest obstacle to achieving true gender equality. That's why it must be destroyed.

[–]thomas_gabriel88 41 points42 points43 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And they were rightfully vilified by the mens rights movement

[–]duhhhh 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

To your edit: Do feminists oust and denounce the bad seeds or support them? If the former, can you provide examples?

[–]AvailableCandidate89 39 points40 points41 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

And people claiming to be for "women's rights" have murdered children

Did you have a point, or was being a sexist cunt the whole of it?

[+]AndyesIdumb 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Really??? Jesus christ, who?

[–]AvailableCandidate89 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Depends how you want to fiddle with definitions

On one end, any feminist who’s had an abortion applies

On the other end, there are plenty of feminist mothers you can Google who killed their kids a bit later

[+]AndyesIdumb -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I don't think a blastocyst or an embryo is necessarily a child. Do you feel they're the same? And nothing really came up on google but maybe I didn't look that hard.

[–]AvailableCandidate89 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

what does that matter?

Either way, you and whoever you got that definition of "child" from is wrong.

The fetal portions of our development are every bit as much us as a person as the after birth portions, which is exactly why we make things like drinking alcohol while pregnant illegal, because it affects the child. It's a separate entity and life regardless of what form it takes.

Now whether it's acceptable to kill people while they're in that state is another matter, but it is still a child.

Edit:

I don't think a blastocyst or an embryo is necessarily a child. Do you feel they're the same? And nothing really came up on google but maybe I didn't look that hard.

Tho i'm worried that you hyperfocused in on the abortion angle as if it was relevant, instead of going with the clear evidence of a self avowed feminist killing her own (after birth) children. The point stands either way, weird to focus on the weakest version of the argument.

[+]AndyesIdumb 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I don't think it's illegal to drink alcohol while pregnant? It's very discouraged though. Maybe it is where you are?

And I'm, Idk I'm really just not going to see a blastocyst or a fertilized egg as the same as a child. Like it's this. That's a meatball. If I had to save a 3 yr or 100 blastocysts I'd save the 3yr. And that's an interesting philosophical position, when do we become us? I consider it later in pregnancy when the brain develops bc that's when we're kind of sentient. I don't think a fertilized cell is a person because I don't think a gamete is half a person. I don't think they suddenly become important when they're in the same place. If they both unimportant separately then why are they important together?

Sorry this is more just me wondering out loud. When do we become people?

Anyway we don't have to talk about the abortion angle if you don't want. The other argument feels like a bit of a dead-end for me because I can't find any proof on it. And to be honest I'm not sure if I want to, poor kids. I don't get how someone who claim to be a feminist but still be a childist.

[–]AvailableCandidate89 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If I had to save a 3 yr or 100 blastocysts I'd save the 3yr.

And if i had to save you or a 3 year old, i'd save the 3 year old and leave you to die.

Does that make you somehow less human than a 3 year old? Can we not make value judgements without dehumanizing people?

Sorry this is more just me wondering out loud. When do we become people?

When an expression of DNA begins and continues the process of creating a new person, i.e., fertilization.

The other argument feels like a bit of a dead-end for me because I can't find any proof on it.

I find that hard to believe as we have a news story posted of it happening on this sub at least once a week

I don't get how someone who claim to be a feminist but still be a childist.

Then you should pull your head out of your ass. There are feminists who work with newborns so that they can legally and without consequence mutilate the genitals of baby boys, and then post how much those boys deserve the pain on twitter

Feminism is a female supremicist hate group, and the evidence is clearly there if you so much as look for it. You could start with the S.C.U.M. manefesto if you like, a seminal feminist work.

[+]AndyesIdumb -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It doesn't, and that's a good choice to make. I don't know. This is kind of irrelevant to the discussion but I really don't see a collection of cells as the same or similar to a full human, even an embryo like a 22 week old. There's a significant difference for me that I guess doesn't exist for you.

I try not to be on this sub too often. That wasn't a statement at you by the way, I don't understand them. It's always baffling how people have the cognitive dissonance to be part of one activist group and one hate group at the same time. I'm in a lot of feminist communities, you check this sub at least once a week and I spend my time in other places. I know the difference between a libfem, radfem, intersectional feminist, terf, white feminism, womanism, men's liberation and I know when the different groups broke off, including how feminism sparked the creation of men's rights. You can't group them all together as a hate group and these ideologies you're attributing to them all doesn't fit with most of them.

No thanks, the scum manifesto is a radical feminist work. I'm part of intersectional feminism womanism and I'm technically part of libfem. Radical feminists kind of hate those aforementioned groups and we hate them too, we've been actively fighting each other for a while now.

Honestly a lot of the posts in my feminists groups are about how much they hate radfems, they hardly mentioned you MRAs.

Next time you meet a feminist who does believe things like the scum manifesto or misandrist ideology, check if they're a radfem. They probably are.

[–]AvailableCandidate89 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don’t see you as meaningfully different than a clump of cells, and certainly not one that has a high probability of talking back given the opportunity to learn

As to the rest of your self aggrandizing bullshit of an answer, I’ll leave you with the words of Karen Straughan:

So what you're saying is that you, a commenter using a username on an internet forum are the true feminist, and the feminists actually responsible for changing the laws, writing the academic theory, teaching the courses, influencing the public policies, and the massive, well-funded feminist organizations with thousands and thousands of members all of whom call themselves feminists... they are not "real feminists".

That's not just "no true Scotsman". That's delusional self deception.

Listen, if you want to call yourself a feminist, I don't care. I've been investigating feminism for more than 9 years now, and people like you used to piss me off, because to my mind all you were doing was providing cover and ballast for the powerful political and academic feminists you claim are just jerks. And believe me, they ARE jerks. If you knew half of what I know about the things they've done under the banner of feminism, maybe you'd stop calling yourself one.

But I want you to know. You don't matter. You're not the director of the Feminist Majority Foundation and editor of Ms. Magazine, Katherine Spillar, who said of domestic violence: "Well, that's just a clean-up word for wife-beating," and went on to add that regarding male victims of dating violence, "we know it's not girls beating up boys, it's boys beating up girls."

You're not Jan Reimer, former mayor of Edmonton and long-time head of Alberta's Network of Women's Shelters, who just a few years ago refused to appear on a TV program discussing male victims of domestic violence, because for her to even show up and discuss it would lend legitimacy to the idea that they exist.

You're not Mary P Koss, who describes male victims of female rapists in her academic papers as being not rape victims because they were "ambivalent about their sexual desires" (if you don't know what that means, it's that they actually wanted it), and then went on to define them out of the definition of rape in the CDC's research because it's inappropriate to consider what happened to them rape.

You're not the National Organization for Women, and its associated legal foundations, who lobbied to replace the gender neutral federal Family Violence Prevention and Services Act of 1984 with the obscenely gendered Violence Against Women Act of 1994. The passing of that law cut male victims out of support services and legal assistance in more than 60 passages, just because they were male.

You're not the Florida chapter of the NOW, who successfully lobbied to have Governor Rick Scott veto not one, but two alimony reform bills in the last ten years, bills that had passed both houses with overwhelming bipartisan support, and were supported by more than 70% of the electorate.

You're not the feminist group in Maryland who convinced every female member of the House on both sides of the aisle to walk off the floor when a shared parenting bill came up for a vote, meaning the quorum could not be met and the bill died then and there.

You're not the feminists in Canada agitating to remove sexual assault from the normal criminal courts, into quasi-criminal courts of equity where the burden of proof would be lowered, the defendant could be compelled to testify, discovery would go both ways, and defendants would not be entitled to a public defender.

You're not Professor Elizabeth Sheehy, who wrote a book advocating that women not only have the right to murder their husbands without fear of prosecution if they make a claim of abuse, but that they have the moral responsibility to murder their husbands.

You're not the feminist legal scholars and advocates who successfully changed rape laws such that a woman's history of making multiple false allegations of rape can be excluded from evidence at trial because it's "part of her sexual history."

You're not the feminists who splattered the media with the false claim that putting your penis in a passed-out woman's mouth is "not a crime" in Oklahoma, because the prosecutor was incompetent and charged the defendant under an inappropriate statute (forcible sodomy) and the higher court refused to expand the definition of that statute beyond its intended scope when there was already a perfectly good one (sexual battery) already there. You're not the idiot feminists lying to the public and potentially putting women in Oklahoma at risk by telling potential offenders there's a "legal" way to rape them.

And you're none of the hundreds or thousands of feminist scholars, writers, thinkers, researchers, teachers and philosophers who constructed and propagate the body of bunkum theories upon which all of these atrocities are based.

You're the true feminist. Some random person on the internet.

And nobody celebrates them. Meanwhile, feminists killing men become feminist icons.

I mean people claiming to be for "mens rights" have murdered people.

Do you have proof of this?

[–]ImaginaryDimension74 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One can find individuals in any major movement who have committed a murder. The bad act of an individual in a movement doesn’t define what a movement is about. The acts of the movement itself define what the movement is about.

[–]EricAllonde 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Edit: so a few horrible feminists represent the movement, but a few mens rights activists who are evil don't? I see.

The insane, man-hating lunatics certainly do give the other 5% of feminists a bad name.

A MRA killed two men to get back at a feminist judge . He also made a lawsuit attacking the" Violence Against Women’s Act".

A group that seems to be affiliated with Men's Rights Activism hosted ""discrimination" lawsuits against organizations that have hosted networking events marketed to women, and lawsuits against universities for offering scholarships and affirmative action programs to women. "

tw Hannah Clark was mentally, physically and sexually abused by her husband. When she tried get away from him, he burned her and their children to death. A Men's Rights Activist decided to paint her as abusive without evidence. Abuse against men is important, but he shouldn't have slandered a murder women by calling her the "perpetrator" of this abuse. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10404951/Hannah-Clarke-Mens-rights-activist-claims-mother-extorted-partner-burned.html

I don't doubt that some feminists, especially radical feminists and terfs, who are attacking men. In factlike some violent men's rights activists, these feminists have ties to the alt right. But I also don't doubt that some men's rights activists are attacking women.

There are intersectional feminists who are fighting for men's liberation. https://medium.com/@jencoates/i-am-a-transwoman-i-am-in-the-closet-i-am-not-coming-out-4c2dd1907e42

Horrible activists aren't a reason to give up on civil rights. Maybe we need to form different groups, give ourselves different names and ideas. But the point remains, men deserve rights and women deserve rights. And right now, we don't have them.

That seems fair. Feminists claim to want equality, and any attempt to do something just for men is immediately shut down, so why should we allow feminists to discriminate against men and provide benefits just to women? I applaud these sort of lawsuits for promoting true gender equality.

tw Hannah Clark was mentally, physically and sexually abused by her husband. When she tried get away from him, he burned her and their children to death. A Men's Rights Activist decided to paint her as abusive without evidence.

It's important to note that phrase: "a (single) men's rights activist (supposedly) decided to paint her as abusive".

Nobody took the guy seriously, he was universally condemned.

Meanwhile, every single female domestic violence offender is excused and justified by evidence-free claims that her male victim was actually an abuser. Because women only ever use violence to defend themselves, supposedly.

The difference is that those defamatory claims are echoed by every feminist with a platform and accepted uncritically by the media and the courts. It's extremely difficult to get a female abuser prosecuted, almost impossible to get her convicted and completely impossible to get given a reasonable sentence, similar to what a man who committed the same crime would get.

There's no comparison.

You asked for accounts of MRA's doing the same things that these feminists did, and you got them.

And the feminists groups that I'm part of also widely de-cry hateful actions against men because they're intersectional and men's issues are their issues.

I could also say that every actual male attacker gets away scotf free and every Men's Rights Activist wants nothing more then to defame women. But I try not to make wide-spread generalizations about groups and society based on the actions of individuals, because they often aren't true or helpful.

Thank you. Your examples proved OP's point: the worst things the MRM does are orders of magnitude less harmful than the damage done by the hate cult of feminism.

And the feminists groups that I'm part of also widely de-cry hateful actions against men because they're intersectional and men's issues are their issues.

I doubt that.

Every time I visit a feminist forum, where feminists are having conversations, I see zero "decrying of hateful actions against men".

Instead I see lots of hateful rhetoric about men, lots of endorsement of hateful actions against men, lots of denying that men face any issues at all and lots of rationalization that any amount of mistreatment of men is entirely justified because of some mythical "male privilege" and the imaginary "patriarchy".

I could also say that every actual male attacker gets away scotf free and every Men's Rights Activist wants nothing more then to defame women.

If you did that you'd simply be denying reality, trying to ignore the mountains of evidence that shows female criminals are treated far, far more leniently than male perpetrators. However, you are a feminist so we would naturally expect you to lie about such things.

But I try not to make wide-spread generalizations about groups and society based on the actions of individuals, because they often aren't true or helpful.

Again, you are a feminist so this claim is extremely implausible.

I've also witnessed the same thing, but there is something else i also noticed when it happened: anyone who tried to provide a different point of view to their argument was either called a misogynistic incel if they were male or internally oppressed pick me's if they were female. there's no reasoning with these people

So... you had to go back who knows how many years, on a dead platform, to a random thread that is nothing to do with feminism, in order to find a single positive comment about men?

That proves my point perfectly.

[+]AndyesIdumb 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Expectations thrust on them by the patriarchy, stronger, work harder, be "the man" places unrealistic expectations on them. It doesn't allow them to be their own true, individual selves and that ends up hurting everyone."

"A good example of how even women can passively reinforce the patriarchy and the mental health crisis men are facing."

Then let's go with someone both general and true: women who rape boys are not punished even half as stridently as men who rape girls, despite the laws and suggested punishments having parity in the books.

Or the feminist woman who tortured and murdered a man was a keynote speaker at a feminist rally.

Choose different hill, friend, this one is full of bones.

[+]AndyesIdumb 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Probably not and it's partly due to the idea that women are less powerful then men so their actions are less harmful. I'm arguing with a man who believes that women harassing boys is less bad then men harassing girls because men are more powerful. People even suggest that it's not assault because male children want to date older women, it's disgusting.

According to one statistic 90% of adult rape victims are female and this could partly be due to under reporting by men. 80% of those perpetrators are men. Only 6% of rapists every go to jail and there's only a 50% chance on conviction if they're arrested. And "Roughly one third of male university students who took part in a study would rape a woman if there were no consequences, according to a new scientific study." https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/a-third-of-male-university-students-say-they-would-rape-a-woman-if-there-no-were-no-consequences-9978052.html

Feminists are anti sexual assault too, and yeah some of them are making the problem worse. A lot of people here are making the problem worse too as they know that men are more likely to be assaulted then falsely accused yet they pose false accusations as a bigger problem. This sub would rather laugh at the "feminist" idea of rape culture but then wonder why we live in a culture that doesn't care about male sexual assault. We're too busy tearing down ideas just because they're associated with feminism that we haven't stopped to consider how it's setting this movement back. You're gender liberationists, but you spend most of your time attacking other gender liberationists because they have a different name.

So this is to say that women aren't doing that much better when it comes to the justice system and assault, and in some ways they're doing worse.

Also I'm going to need a name for that if you want me to look it up.

Its actually because in the UK, where your link is based, women can not be charged with the crime of Rape, as its legal wording precludes them. These kind of twisted 'statistics' are used by feminists as cudgels to bludgeon and pathologize men.

If you are reaching for out to things like this, I believe you should lurk more and read more before trying to have a conversation to change people's perspective. What you have inadvertently accomplished is reinforcing the idea that feminists and their 'allies' do not actually read the studies or know the law, but merely quote someone else's words to win arguments.
