Hey fellas! Hope your all doing well! I’ll give some back round info to make this understandable. I would love to hear how people have navigated the follow situation.

My now ex wife- we have been separated 12 months after a 6 month trial seperation she initiated. Me 32 her 37. 2 children m5 f7.

It was an divorce I did not want although I took it on the chin and accepted the outcome. I agreed to tell the children that me and mummy are better being friends rather than a couple.

My daughter is now seven and is street smart. She doesn’t buy the friend scenario. She has pushed back and said why not just get back together. I have explained the same story around 15 times in 3 months and it’s really starting to wear me down. I asked her if she speaks to mother about the same situation. She has replied no- no emotional safety and reports being shut down previously. I’m a counsellor as a professional. So I have any open conversations with my children.

I’m struggling to just say the truth because it’s constantly bringing up the divorce.

I will always stand by my word to not tell them, that she pulled the pin because I doubt my daughter will every forgive her. When she’s of age with emotional intelligence, I will explain the situation and have written a note so it is in the context of the moment and things don’t get convoluted from time.

Have you guys been in this? What’s your solutions to not further extend the trauma. Thank you for reading! Have a awesome day!
