Is it just me or are men not allowed to be private with their relationships anymore? I will offer more naunce and context so people can get an idea of what I mean

Maybe just me, but it seems like more and more unironically the more sexually liberated society becomes the more men are gatekeeped from how they handle their relationships, applies to both gay and straight men I would say, and how I think we're always expected to be flamboyant and showy about them, because basically then people think we're some weirdo closet incel who is just coping, I feel like in this day and age of overexposure from social media and the internet people have definitely become more overzealous about someone's endeavors in their relationships

It seems like actually wanting to keep a relationship to yourself and handle it to yourself is becoming a luxury of the few who have little to no social media advent, the advent of social media makes it impossible to keep almost a relationship private because social media tends to make things spectative for people and then people get all caught up in other people's business

While I would not say men are micro checked in an obvious way about it like someone is a putting a gun to their head to prove that they're in a relationship, you always got that one annoying time someone asks "Who are you dating at the moment" and for some, they're using it as a means to determine your very worth, almost similar to the question "what do you do for a living?", it almost has that very same sort of gaslighting energy and intent behind it

This is actually one of the few reasons why I am currently checking out of dating

Now don't get me wrong, back in the day it wasn't anymore different per se, but it wasn't until a major milestone such as when people got married or had kids that the relationship started to kinda glow a little bit more around, but now you're expected to give always a flamboyant and transparent posture about it, long gone are the days when one didn't have to be nosy in one's affairs

Actually I would argue and I am going to highlight this point so you can see where I am coming from, but lack of privacy in the modern dating field may inevitably explain another factor into a lot of men checking out from dating, when you feel like you always got to posture and taunt and prove your relationship to others, what good is it really? The whole thing starts to feel like performative nonsense rather than a true bond with your partner, and this puts a lot of performance anxiety onto those trying it out to date

Yes I know a lot of this sounds like speculation obviously, but isn't it just amazing how much social media has fucked us over a tad bit here?

Then again society will always be microchecking men's lives at stake, because men are always being targeted with performance insecurities about everything they pursue.
