I second the not trusting anything that comes out of her mouth. The script and history may get altered over short time frame.

Gotta agree with others, she is not your wife anymore, especially if she's talked to a lawyer, when women go to divorce consultations they spin them a story thats insane, the husband will pay for everything, she is your fierce enemy, start reading sun tzu art of war, or listening to it. Imo there's no such thing as an amicable divorce, unless you just give into them on everything.

You really need to figure out how get a lawyer ASAP. She will get one. She may all-ready have one. Her lawyer will be probably ask for and get some of the mortgage payment she is asking for if you are not represented. Hesitant to do 50/50? In her mind, those are her kids not both of your kids. You are asking for 50/50, she is negotiating for your visitation of her kids. Oh yeah, she’s coming for child support also.

She is not your wife any more. I know that is harsh. I’m sorry that you have to go through this. I know it is hard. But she is not your wife any longer. The job now is to split things up and decide custody. You have one chance. Like other commenters have said, in her mind a switch has been flipped. She is going to take as much as you will let her. She will take her half, and as much of your half as she can get from you.

Your life is going to change, like it or not. Take care of yourself. Don’t fall apart. Be the dad your kids need. They really need a good dad right now. Find a lawyer ASAP, they are not all bad. They cost some money, probably less then she is coming for though.

It depends how much the house equity is worth. You can put a lawyer Retainer on credit card. Or you can get a mediator. How sure ar e you your contract will hold up in court? Doors she have a job? Is there a disparity in your incomes?

You should -take anything valuable of yours out of the house to family. -i don’t know if you are facing alimony…. If your close in Income then you shouldn’t. But you will have child support. Even 50/50 most likely. - make copies of all the transactions she has done via the bank and credit cards. You need to have the evidence for court. And keep it some where safe. Courts like hard evidence. - courts for the most part look at annual income. -if you sharing a cell plan. Dump her off yours. Make her get her own. Kill any streaming services she likes. Make sure your the only one with the keys to your truck.

You have to be prepared and think what can she do. She is trying to f you 24/7. Next is false accusations and police. Be prepared!

Find a lawyer . Maybe you can make payments idk but get yourself legal representation.

Make sure the lawyer will work with you.

If you "legal up" in the beginning it may cost a little more. Don't be 4 years in and having to spend thousands to lawyer up . Trust me , trust me trust me .

Find one you can trust in the beginning and maybe you won't have to spend thousands later......

Research the rules in the state you are in. Most law firms have an FAQ on state laws in divorce. Hopefully you are lucky enough to live in a 50/50 state. I’m in Florida, and the governor was kind enough to sign a new bill into law limiting alimony a month before I filed
