So here’s where I’m at. It’s been two months since I started the divorce process, and we’re still living together but in different rooms for reasons not relevant her. I'm looking for ways to encourage her to find a job. I make a very good income, but she’s been a stay-at-home mom for the past two years. Before that, she worked the entire time we were married, which is over 10 years, but lost her job during COVID, found another one and got laid off again.
Right now, she’s still using my credit card on which she is an authorized user. To be fair, since we decided to separate, she’s been careful with it, but I think it’s time she starts covering some of her own expenses to prepare for when we’re not living together anymore. To my knowledge, she hasn't found a job yet or started looking.
I've asked around, and some people, including lawyers, have told me that cutting off the credit card could look like financial abuse, which I want to avoid.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to go about this?
