What I wonder is, why women who seek out (younger) men in Africa, the Carribeans etc. are never part of that conversation or, if they are, depicted as victims?

Rebrand when black american women discovered that black american men were doing it. Only in the USA could having a passport be used as a derogatory term or be seen as something shady and uncultured lol.

How could going to another country to find a partner be any more barbaric than expanding your search area on a dating app to the next city over?

You would have to have some level of ethnocentric prejudice about the people doing this. You would have to believe that someone participating in these relationships is less advanced than the opposite partner. You would have to believe one participant is a barbarian.

Who is it? Who is the barbarian? Who is less capable of understanding what is going on?

It is controversial, yes.

Usually (and not always) it is Western men and Eastern European or East Asian women.

These relationships are usually fully consensual and done between two adults.

Typically the western man that has a "mail order bride" or is a "passport bro" likes the look, youth, temperament of the foreign woman. This is ok.

The woman engaging in this typically is looking for financial benefits, to send money home to her family, to legally live in another country. This is also ok.

Do I personally find these relationships optimal, desirable or ethical? No. However it seems to work for some people and if everyone in that relationship benefits from those kinds of marriages? Good for them!

Sex Tourism is an entirely different pond in my opinion. This talks about Western men flying to countries where they can live out their fantasies ... A prime example of this is the lady boys of Thailand that Western men like to frequent!

Men have been marrying women from overseas from far away locations for a very long time, so it is an age old practice.

Any man can choose to treat any woman well, so of course it can be ethical.

There's nothing unethical about "sex tourism" either, as long as a man isn't deceiving a woman to his intentions. I'm sure that there are plenty of women in countries around the world who enjoy having safe sex with foreign men.

People involved are consenting adults, and passport bro do not make the women involved life more difficult or worse - if they did, they would not get with the gals to begin with.

Here’s the thing about passport bros.

Their frame is shit, and that means they will enable the same dysfunctional nice guy cycle in a feminine submissive girl from whatever country is hip atm.

Most often these women grow up amongst very masculine and strong guys who don’t tolerate any bs, and they get with a guy with 0 boundaries, codependency complete power bottom and then wonder, why don’t these women don’t respect me.

It’s laughable but each to their own.

Well first off it’s far from new. I work a job loosely related to the hospitality industry and almost everyday without fail I see some old white dude veteran with a yellow boat on his cap pushing his luggage along with some little Filipino woman half his size following close behind. When I was younger I always though it was a weird pattern but nowadays I definitely understand why this was/is so common.

I’m no expert here, but from what I’ve seen a lot of women basically function off of attention and validation from men, (Edit: ESPECIALLY young women from the current two generations and millennials, i.e. social media) so when the sucker that isn’t up to her standards stops caring and moves on to far better things, on top of the fact that ‘chad’ usually can’t be bothered with her either, they tent to lose it. Hence all the hate and stigma you see around these “passport bros”. Beause there isn’t actually anything wrong with it, it’s just that a lot of women genuinely can’t fathom the idea of a man just moving on and being happy instead of hanging around as a “friend” aka back up option. So then they get mad cause they can’t control it. Again I’m generalizing here and I’m not an expert and there’s more to it than just that, but I know patterns when I see em.
