Just make it out as no big deal and it will be no big deal. If you start being awkward, the rest of your time there will be awkward.
[–]WannaSeeTrustIssues 55 points56 points57 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This. The only professional way to handle it going forward. Its gonna take some days to bounce back probably but this is the adult way of handling it
[–]13Xxx21 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Suck it up and keep moving forward lots of fish in the sea she's not your catch.
She doesn't want you, you are in the friend/coworker zone.
Pick up the pieces and move on, be the same person towards her as you have been it's always good to have allies.

Don’t mix work with pleasure. It usually does not end well.

Lots of married people originally met at work. Sure beats relying on random cold approaches & online to meet people.

THIS.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks bb. That being said, I don't think people should go to work with the intention of trying to date or hook-up with people. However, if you happen to meet someone, you're both single and there's mutual attraction - at least be open to it.

Stop telling yourself stuff like. Some of the biggest online PUAs operate out of the UK.

Like he said, not gonna work if you go in with the attitude like it wont work. There's a reason they test everything against placebo.
[–][deleted] 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
[–]bokonator 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
There's a thing where if you think something will happen, it most likely will happen. If you take a drug and think it will work, it will probably work. If you take a drug and think it won't work then it probably won't work. In trials they give a group of people a sugar pill instead of the medication and compare to each other. If there's improvement but no difference between the groups, then it was just the placebo effect doing it's magic. Just the thought of getting better made them get better. The opposite is true too, just the thought of "it won't work" will reduce the chance it will work and might make you worse off than before.
In this instance of the UK dating scene. Just the thought that it will work vs the thought that it won't work will increase your chances of it working. You'll most likely look more confident and give off a better vibe.

You don’t do any activities besides work in the UK??? This sounds like it might help to find new hobbies or whatever hobbies you’re doing, find other people doing them or talking about them.

Uhhhhh what about bars and clubs? All my UK friends go there to get girls
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
success rate is very low at those venues depending on how you look
That is very true, most of my friends live in London so I guess my experience is based off of that.

Yeah, I'd second this, I've had some decent success with coworkers when it comes to short term things but given the normal rate of rejection you just run the risk of making things a bit awkward at work. Especially if it gets more serious and goes south, then you're dealing with that every day.

[–]Squez360 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I feel like you don't have much experience. I did this mistake myself, but not at work, but at high school. Soon, I was known as a that guy. I suggest like the other guy said, go out at a club. There is a reason why clubs are recommended. No one will remember you, a lot of girls there to practice plus no one knows you.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Clubs & dating apps have way too much competition. Think outside the box. College campuses are untapped resources.
[–]RoShamBeauxyogirl 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Dude move on don’t make a big deal out of it. Just like you were into her, you’ll find someone else. Feel the rejection, let it seer into you like a branding… be upset at home in private… it’s cool don’t let her see you sweat… it’s hard I know. But you can do this. If it becomes too much just see if you can work at a different point so you can sever the connection you’re too emotionally attached… you need to sever that link. We all get rejected we grow we move on. Adjust for the next time, level up for you and remember women are just other people they are humans just like you. You WILL be fine keep saying that to yourself! You got this!

It’s always a bad idea to hit on coworkers. You can take this as a lesson learned and confidently move on.
[–][deleted] 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
[–]zzzrecruit 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Jesus Christ dude, STOP HITTING ON YOUR COWORKERS! You're going to be known as that weird creepy guy around your job, then you'll be one sexual harassment case away from losing your job. Don't think with your dick during working hours.
[–]zzzrecruit 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ok, so why haven't you met someone at work yet if it was that common? Now you're on Reddit trying to convince people that hitting on their coworkers is good.
[–]MomsSpecialFriend 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Dude your coworkers are human beings trying to earn a living, not your personal harem. I don’t go to my job to be hit on. I would never date a coworker. Those things don’t change just because you have bad luck at online dating.
[–]MomsSpecialFriend 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Oh I can’t imagine why you are single. If a woman wants to be treated professionally at WORK she must be jealous? Do you apply kindergarten level thinking to everything you do?
[–]OctoChill 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with you. I don’t want to be hit on at work where I come to focus and earn a living. I wouldn’t ever put my coworkers in the position where they’d have to reject me & then work along side of me. Respect and consideration go a long way. It’s also a better setting to meet people in places where they would expect to be approached (bars, clubs); your chances are objectively better that way.
[–]OctoChill 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
That’s two extremes- “I either hit on coworkers or be alone forever.” Like many here have said, try bars, clubs, maybe ask friends and family to set you up with someone. Don’t limit yourself! Think creatively. Join a singles club or a hobby club where you can develop conversations/ date potential with other people that also want to socialize. I bet that will up your chances of being successful.
Get more hobbies that aren’t male dominated. Think creatively. Don’t focus on the negative. Good luck!

Read How to Be a 3% Man by Corey Wayne so you can learn game. If you’ve “trying to show affection for weeks” you probably have no game and she definitely saw it and lost all attraction, then put you in the friendzone. If you read other posts on here from experienced guys, you’ll know that with girls attraction dissipates quick, within the first 2 days of knowing her you should’ve shot for the number.
This isn’t a rom com movie, standing behind the wall dreaming a woman will notice you is what losers do. Constantly complimenting a woman and indirectly expressing interest is what losers do.
Read the book so you can know what not to do next time, maybe there might be a chance to salvage this.
[–]bittr_n_swt 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Risky to ask out a girl you work very closely with. If you weren’t close work colleagues fair enough but yeah gonna be awkward for a few weeks
Don’t shit where you eat
[–]Fat_Fucking_Lenny 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you do like someone from work, the seduction/flirtation should be light. That way, if you get rejected its no big deal. You were just having fun. Minimal awkwardness.
The problem in your case, is that you entertained the idea that she could be your special someone.
I feel for you OP. Consider this a lesson. And remember, it's really not a big deal. Rejection happens all the time. By accepting her rejection, you are respecting yourself. Be respectful to yourself and her, and move on.
[–]Slowmexicano 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you’re not already an item don’t ask for a first date on Valentine’s Day. Too much baggage. Test the waters by asking her to grab a drink after work or something. And to second everyone else play it very cool with co worker or avoid. Run the risk of making things awkward or harassment.
[–]karandeep81 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]RittreKakaBoi[S] 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I asked her if she wanted to go out monday evening. She told me no and that she had other plans.
[–]JenantD80 16 points17 points18 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ok, you probably shot yourself in the foot by asking her out for V day.
Some people will go out of their way to make other plans to avoid V day altogether. Some people also don't want to go on a first date on that day. It's too much pressure for a first date.
You should play it cool for 2 reasons. 1) you still have to work together and you don't want things to get awkward and ruin your working environment. 2) she now knows your interested so if she was just freaked out about it being V day she might suggest another time further down the line.
[–]Barneysnewwingman 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think it is a rejection..first of all he made a mistake of asking for a first date on valentine's day.. puts a while lot of pressure on the other person.
[–][deleted] 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No I think that is a rejection if a girl finds you attractive and you propose to go on a date with that girl then she will get time for you no matter how busy she was or she will propose an alternate day for date.
[–]leafhog 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That is a pretty casual rejection. Asking her on vday was a mistake. Don’t ask her again.
It can be a bad idea to try to date someone who you work with. If it goes badly you have to keep seeing them.
Don’t be weird around her now. You two had a good working relationship and you might have damaged it. If she feels like she is being punished professionally for saying no, it could qualify as sexual harassment. But hopefully with the casualness of it that won’t be an issue.
She probably has someone if she’s busy on vday. Try to stop developing feelings for her and don’t try to show affection beyond professional friendship.
[–]Bira_01 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sounds like you just over thinking it just go on as usual.
[–]goldenhunter55 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Dude it happened to me, just act normal around her and you did good btw.. Don't be ashamed from that
[–]bribor 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well it stings a little, but your going to have to get used to rejection. It’s going to happen. Just play it off like it was no big deal because if she sees your hurt by it, then your going to be in the friend zone for sure. Maybe she has a personal rule of not getting in loved with co-workers. It’s best to be friendly with her and get to know her first. Give yourself time
[–]freeplastic 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Sounds like she doesn't like hard working, funny, and charming guys. Maybe your next interest will.
Enjoy the journey!

[–]SuaveFuck 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]AdministrativeTap925 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don’t ask her out again. As a woman in construction she’s probably consistently approached by men she works with. Let her do her job. She was probably just being friendly to you.

-First question, how old are you?
-Second question, how do you “have feelings” for some broad that has contributed ZERO to your life and bottom line?
-Third question, if you’re showing affection for her, watching shows she recommends and she’s “teaching you” how to solve a Rubik’s cube, doesn’t that make you the girl in this situation?
After spending 30 seconds reading your report I see you as the woman and her as the man.
I say this to help, really re-read what you wrote. You’re doing everything a woman does and she treated you accordingly.
How are you gonna lead a woman if all you’re doing is chasing behind her?
Be a man my friend. Stop approaching women. You need to learn yourself first. Focus on crushing it at work and in the gym.
My advice have been shut down in the past by moderators that most likely suffer from the same internal thinking but I will say this til I’m blue in the face, STOP WORRYING ABOUT WOMEN AND FOCUS ON YOURSELF. If you do so you’ll never have a problem getting women. Know the ledge my friend.

Being rejected is the part of the game. Let me tell you something, I have years of experience of telemarketing. Buying customers ALWAYS reject you before they buy, multiple times. Biggest customers I had was those who throw biggest objections against me.
Women reject men because they want to know what kind of guy you are. Do you get angry, upset, do you start to cry like a weak bitch after rejection? If yes, they will stay away from you. Just forget that rejection you had, it wasn't rejection, it was just test, hope you passed it. Now, do exactly the same as you did earlier, spend great time with her, then ask again, get rejected again, good. Repeat until she says yes. Stop over-thinking, it is very easy, only thing you need is big balls. Do you know why I was the best sales man in our sales team? No, I didn't have amazing social skills or sales mastery degree, I am introverted as fuk. It was because customers didn't get rid of me until they hung up or buy my shit.
[–]zzzrecruit 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Are you seriously suggesting that he ask her out again? She is a female in construction. You can imagine how many men must ask her out daily. She probably felt comfortable with OP because he never made a move, now he did and that work relationship is likely going to be awkward as hell.
You work in sales. Asking someone multiple times to buy your special laundry detergent isn't nearly the same thing as asking out a coworker several times. He's going to get hit with a harassment complaint.
[–]_iwanttobethere_ 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If every man gave up after first obstacle, there won't be any humans on this earth. Many relationships starts in work place, so what? I don't understand that "harassment" statement. Asking somebody out is different thing. Do you think rape and sex are the same thing as well? If yes, maybe you should stay single.
And yes, he should ask she out multiple times. And I can imagine no one ask her out because guys are afraid of harassment complaints, or are shy incels like you. Harassment in my ass
[–]_iwanttobethere_ 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All ways wait until after the holiday to ask girl out. Same thing happened to me (not a coworker tho) when I was in college. Girls emotions are up in the air and they have this huge vision on their perfect man right before love(ier) holidays like valentines and christmas.
[–]youcheekydelinquent 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Suck it up, thank her for being kind about it and move on. Focus on your self and what needs to happen for you. You shot your shot. Make peace and move on. Let any resentment go. And valentine's day is shit.
Asking someone out for the first time around Valentine’s Day was a big mistake. Way too much pressure.

Ask her out again. Get rejected. And again. Get rejected. Keep it light. Them go out with someone else - she will have a crisis of confidence wondering what she is doing wrong and hit on you. This puzzle is a Rubix cube - you’re treating it like a sudden death archery competition.
It never happened.
[–]eyesopen1111 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I’m in bed right now with a girl I met at work!! lol It happens all the time. Our careers are fine.
Look, your mating choice is actually much more strategically important for your life than is your place of employment, so if she's the One you want to target, then don’t let the workplace thing stop you. (Your job workwise is to develop high-value skills and become a profit center, then employers are a dime a dozen.)
But the real concern seduction-wise is (1) why you were rejected and (2)how to get this girl attracted to you. The fact that Valentine's Day was your first-date request indicates a lack of game, so you’ll need to get a dating coach fast. He’ll need to do an assessment ASAP to see if you have a shot with the girl. Don’t try anything further because your romantic judgment is not producing results right now. The objectivity of the coach or wingman will help.
How did she reject you? What did she say?
