Plural
There is no single person in this world for anyone. There are people with whom you will share a significant portion of your life, until you grow apart. Then both of you will have to find someone else to share another significant portion of your life with. Some people manage to find someone that they can grow together with, rather than apart from, but those lucky people are few and far between, and this is not something anyone should ever expect from life.
[–]Quithi 27 points28 points29 points 10 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
I think OP is getting to an even more fundamental truth here. There are more than just one person out there that would be perfect for you. Not just good or better than others. Perfect. So there isn't just one soulmate out there for you that will make you complete and be right for you now and to the end of time. There are multiple Ones.
[–]fromtheill 15 points16 points17 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Your post is poetic but I'm sorry, it's a fantasy.
I agree there are multiple ideal matches, many that you could spend the rest of your life with. But the way you word it saying someone "perfect" for you, "make you complete", "now until the end of time" sounds like a Disney movie.
No One is perfect for you, there is no way to fill that hole in your chest without learning to love yourself, not fall ''in love" with yourself, platonically love yourself like you would your own child, then you are complete and you can finally find someone who has reached this same level as you, until then you'll never be a good match to someone that complete, until then you'll always have something missing and search for it in others as though the answer is out there when really the only way to grow is with introspection.
[–]Quithi 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Preaching to the choir here. A partner isn't there to fill in that gap in yourself. Only you can fill that gap in yourself. Big RSD fan so I understand that well. A partner is like a glass of wine with a steak. You don't need it, but it makes the meal much more enjoyable if the wine is good and is drunk in moderation. And if you find that perfect vintage it takes the steak to a whole different level.
[–]silsosill 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What's "RSD"?
[–]Quithi 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Real Social Dynamics. Tyler's school of pick up. It's based on improving yourself and the way you interact with the world - Basically turning yourself into a natural - instead of learning lines and manouvers to try to imitate naturals.
[–]silsosill 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
That actually sounds really useful, how much did you study it? Could you recommend any good sources?

One-itis is so sad. I've only had this with one girl. Thank god I'm over that man. A man needs the abundance mentality. There are plenty of girls that could be just as good or even better then the one who you think is "the one."
[–]bigbadjesus 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I don't think "one-itis" is a bad thing though. There may be "plenty" that could be just as good or better, but what if that doesn't matter to a person? Sometimes "the one" is really flawed and has a lot of problems, and you can't solve them, but you just want to be there for them and care for them. It might result in you being alone but maybe its better to be alone and true to that love than to try to replace it by thinking that there are just "other fish in the sea"..
[–]The_Great_Donkey10 points 10 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link
I think that's great and all but it creates dependency. Something that can be used against you by female psychology (because to be honest I don't even know if girls know what they do (as in they're consciously aware of what they do ). For example you're always around her because you love her - then she thinks omg he's always around me, never gives me space! And finds someone else). That's why I said against you by female psychology instead of against you by females.
[–]MalgraineX 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I'm getting more convinced by the day that most girls are just completely unaware of their actions and feelings.
[–]The_Great_Donkey2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
It sucks. I would love for a girl to be rational in the sense of how guys are for example. I'm the lovey dovey type. But I can't be like that because I can't find a girl like that (If you think you found a girl like that, you're probably wrong.. especially if a girl tells you she's like that. I don't think one exists. It's in female psychology). For now, I have to be kind of a dick. And do things like leaving early when the conversation is at a emotional high (a good high) so they'll think better of me psychologically and shit.... the game never stops.
[–]sourpuss_ashkenazi 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It is bad because just indulging yourself in the thought process is going to alter your actions and make you far less attractive. This had happened to me like 5 times in a row. A girl was totally in to me, I didn't really think about it, but then when I went through the one-itis and my behaviour was subconsciously influenced and their attraction for you is gone. The woman thinks 'hmm, if all of a sudden he is interested back I must have aimed too low or he must have some other flaws if he's suddenly happy to settle on me'. If you are aloof and don't do one-itis on yourself then you are not transferring all your power away in one go.

I've always thought it would be neat to have a hobby farm. Ya know, a bunch of herbs, veggies, fruit trees, a few sheep, goats, some chickens.
[–]Jake_STi-RA 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It's a lot of work. And it's not very profitable if you plan on that being your income (but I assume not, hence the word 'hobby').
Source: My parents are wheat farmers.
Not to discourage anyone here, it's just how it is. On the bright side, not many can say they literally pick the fruits of their labor, and seeing everything come together feels pretty rewarding.
[–]SenorPuff 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like the idea, and seduction is helping me find the right girl.
[–]PanqueNhoc 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
There's no one right girl, there are a lot of them. If you are extremely lucky you might find one you enjoy so much it makes you want to live the rest of your days by her side and get her to feel the same way, but expecting this to happen won't really do you any good. Just meet lots of people and see how things go.
[–]Robert_Baratheon_ 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
So you can't just meet a girl that feels the same way? Maybe I'm deluded thinking that I've found someone who is the one for me, but maybe you're just a pessimist.
[–]PanqueNhoc 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Never said it's impossible, but maybe you are deluded. Maybe 5 years from now she will dump you, that's when you will need this advice. Or maybe you will live forever happy by her side, I honestly hope you do.
Try to avoid calling her Lyanna in bed this time around tho.
[–]monty-1 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, the basic idea is that modern life is stressful and why do you need a modern society when you have "the one" lol in reality farm life is stressful af
[–]Psynaut 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ya, that's what I was thinking. Working from 5 am till 7 pm everyday, bailing hay, fixing tractors, pesticides, etc... I was like, how can anyone idealize that life. Probably, people visualize a couple acres with a garden and chickens and a goat or something.
[–]moloizer 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Have the farm, no woman though.

What if I have no desire to have more than one girl?
Edit: Am I weird? Do most guys just want to have a bunch of plates they can fuck? Should I squash my desire to just want one woman? Am I in the wrong sub?
[–]number1Mustache 67 points68 points69 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
the point of this post isn't to say "go have a bunch of girls" the post is about realizing that if that one woman you have fallen for ends up not working out (not feeling the same) that you have to realize that she was not your only chance, she's not even the best woman out there. Stop being hung up on the "one that got away" and go meet some more people until you find someone that makes you realize the first girl wasn't "the one"
[–]rofljay 30 points31 points32 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Oooooh, I see. Okay that's pretty good then.
[–]Quithi 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It's also to squash a feeling you think is a fundamental part of you and that you think accurately describes the world: That there is a 'The One' out there for you. There are actually multiple people out there that are perfect for you and will help you complete your life.
Since you just want a soulmate to spend the rest of your days you might be tempted to write this off as one of those lessons not meant for you but think about this: Seduction is value based and a lot of the stuff we do is to increase your perceived value to make you more or equally valuable as she. What happens when you come into that conversation thinking she's your soulmate? Her perceived value is going to be exponentially higher than yours and you will strike out. Yep. You'll lose your chance for a soulmate. This line of thinking both helps you deal with that situation (she's my soulmate, but I'll find one of those again pretty soon) as well as to deal with the possible fallout (that girl will never want to be in a relationship with me. But it doesn't really matter since there are other girls out there that are just as good).
And that's all without mentioning the scarcity issue. How when you've gone for too long without any companionship you start to overevaluate others leading to a lot of people looking like the perfect thing which are in real life anything but.
[–]SailingtoPhilly 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]fromtheill 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Its easier said than done and someone probably wont feel that way in a day but its true. The sooner one can realize that the sooner the next one will come.
[–]spiritualdissonance -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sadly, I don't think many people in this sub are interested in applying seduction to long term monogamous relationships. Seems like it's been mostly taken over by pickup, which is a very narrow application IMO.

[–]SenorPuff 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nobody is perfect, man. You can date for whatever reason, having fun, trying to see if she's good enough to commit to, whatever. It's not wrong if she doesn't make you fall in love. All that matters is that she's worth your time right now.
[–]reek__2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Don't worry bro your not alone. I don't see any woman like that anymore either not after my ex. I just date for fun now.

I thought one-itis is when you have a crush on some girl and obsess about it for months. Like you don't pursue any others and just keep thinking "one day she'll come around"
[–]LongNameNoCanSay 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ironically, one-itis has more than one form.
[–]bluewalletsings 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I actually had thought about this. Given the huge population on Earth; there must be more than one person that you find ideal. No matter how perfect you think your SO is, it's actually very likely that there is one more perfect somewhere out there...
[–]sourpuss_ashkenazi 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
