You will never find a video of him APPEARING uncomfortable. He regularly self-deprecates (most comedians are good at this, because it opens up deprecating other people). He can always handle any sort of pithy barb or disparaging remark (the small penis double bluff is a great line in this regard). Conan uses this playbook too sometimes, except he goes for the "overtly awkward nerd" style instead. They do this for the same reason: it's funny, and funny things are fun, and people enjoy having fun.

Basically, he is always cool and collected. But most importantly, he always makes EVERYONE ELSE feel cool and collected when they interact with him. It's the most basic, most primal exchange of confidence. He's so confident he makes others around him confident. That is true alpha behavior, because that is true leader behavior.

it's not really about what he's saying, it's more about how he's carrying himself.

Besides the cynical stuff the other commenters are saying, there's nothing here that would imply this wouldn't work outside of a public platform.

Good eye contact, calm under pressure, good humour, well presented. Craig Ferguson is charming no matter what.

Should also note that Craig has a long history with alcoholism, and other defects, so it's easy for some people to idolise people who are good in one area, while ignoring their struggles in another.

Don't wish you were somebody else, but work towards emulating the same behaviours you like about them.

I was a huge fan of his stand up and what Craig excells at is his ability to be completely honest, in a way it's who the guy is.

A second factor would be that the man has been through a number of crazy experiences and talks about them constantly, without altering details and often expanding on his top level thoughts on whatever he's talking about. He is simply straightforward and worldly, without being over the top.

A third factor in the video is his security, he's in the main chair, he's the host, he dictates and guides the line of questioning, so he's constantly leading, while the supporting players are responding positively, any divergence would dampen the condo for both parties and the whole show is geared around lighthearted conversation.

The man is brilliant here because he has nothing to lose, his natural personality traits got him there and he is comfortable being himself. He's got a wife and a career that basically allow him to go with his flow, and whoever wants to tag along is welcome.

I don't think it's "how does he flirt" because you can't mimic anything he is doing here, it's how do you find self acceptance and learn to channel it into the conversation naturally. Unless you are Craig, you can't be like Craig, and you need to be like you and accept whoever likes you and whoever doesn't.

If he was in a situation with people who aren't driven by comedy, he's dead in the water because his natural state does not add to his value, like at a research conference or in a board room. Corney old advice holds true, just be yourself, be confident and accept whatever comes of it. Don't criticize your natural state, enjoy it and find others who do as well.

It also helps that he is being treated like a cheeky old man by the women. I see it a lot from young attractive women with an old man who, as long as he doesn't cross the line (i.e. take action thinking he actually has a chance), then they are happy to play along.

Because his conversations do not follow a logic line and are basically just nonsensical vibing, he stands his frame, he sits close to the women and makes sexual double meaning remarks as light hearted jokes (and on the same time seems to be aware and calibrating) and self-depricating jokes (disarms any shittest rightaway before they happen and shows confidence) while doing those.

It's all frame.

He's the talkshow host, he's the star, the whole audience loves to watch him put on a show. The girl is the guest, she's invited to be on the show, she's just happy to be there and be involved. He just owns the entire frame so completely that anything he says is automatically funny and not creepy. It has already been decided that he is cool, he is suave, he's funny, etc. Those things are determined already, so he can say whatever he wants and it automatically isn't creepy or off-putting.

On top of that, he's good at being sexual without leaning into it too much or pushing it. The girls can make jokes about wanting to get with him knowing that he isn't going to call an uber and immediately try to take them home. They can enjoy the push-pull of it all without it being something more.

This can be applied in your own dating life in situations where you're so much higher value than the girl that they no longer think "Is he cool?" or "Do I like this guy?" and start thinking "Does he like me?" or "Am I good enough for him?". Once a girl is having the latter thoughts, it's all over. You can say and do almost anything and she'll love it. That's the key, though, you have to completely own the frame first.
