The day I started going out alone was one of the most empowering moments of my life.

For a long time, I would wait around for the opportunity to go out and socialized. If I didn't have someone to do something with, I wouldn't do it; it just wouldn't cross my mind.

I then started going to bars alone - it was weird as fuck at first butt hen it stopped mattering. Then I dove into other things; yoga, concerts, parties, networking events, etc. I've even traveled to Europe and Western Asia alone and explored at night by myself. If I go on trips with my friends and they don't want to go out I'll just go out by myself.

I think it's easier to be alone - no worrying about what the group wants to do, set your own agenda, etc. The issue is that it may make you intolerant of doing stuff with others or with groups. Ideally, you'll be balanced.

No one gives a fuck if you're alone. I've literally never had anyone say anything to me about it.

Completely agree, I've gone out alone and it's been very helpful in building my confidence in talking to women without having to rely on other people. I've been questioned a few times about why I'm out alone but it didn't seem to be a huge issue

I don't even think about it any more, it's weird how a pack of friends felt like such a requirement when I was younger. But that's actually pretty standard for a lot of animals. Bands of juvenile bachelors will form after their parents shoo them away, but then as these juveniles mature they get less dependent on allies and even grow to be totally intolerant of them. At 37 I'm feeling pretty intolerant of a friend group these days. Has to be very rare small doses.

It’s not weird at all; in fact I think it’s a huge social power move being confident enough to go out by yourself. People respond very well to me when I’m out by myself and I almost always have a great time. I just moved to the south and people down here are so damn nice and welcoming that it’s almost never awkward. I don’t really have friends being new here so I’m almost forced to go out alone, but it’s done wonders for my confidence. I think everyone should get comfortable going out alone to help boost self esteem.

I am 43(F) love to go out and have some of my alone time. I like to pick a corner in a restaurant and order my food. But multiple times people would pay for my meal that makes me feel bad so I stopped going out to eat by myself.

The key is to genuinely have fun and meet people, make pickup a natural offshoot of having fun but not the only goal. It’s almost impossible to pretend that you’re out to enjoy yourself if you’re only out to pull women, it’s as though they can smell the desperation and it’s a massive turn off.

I don’t understand why most girls see guys with a “herd mentality” as attractive. Guys who have an entourage, or group of buddies, or a gang. Girls seem to salivate over guys who’s lives are dominated by their “tribe.” Sure there is more power in a group. But there can be much more depth of independent thought, reasoning, creativity and peace with a guy who’s mentally secure enough to detach himself from a group on occasion and do stuff on his own. This kind of man doesn’t have to lean on his buddies to have a good time.

I had a plan to start doing activities alone this year but covid had put a halt to all that since everything in my state got shutdown. It sucked but it gave me a chance to develop other hobbies and work on other aspects of myself. Definitely going to use your advice and frame being alone as a positive instead of a negative when I get the chance!

Im not gonna lie, it is a bit intimidating, but I already go to the beach alone at least once a week. I think that as long as you don't do it with the expressed purpose of picking up women, it's alright. People can sense it when you are out to pick up girls and quite frankly, your mentality changes A LOT if you only focus on pleasing yourself and going there for the sake of the party. I did this once in Japan during New Years when my friends wanted to go back to their hotel after missing a New Years party and it was one of the best moments in my life thus far. I found myself laughing with a bunch drunken Mexicans fucking around with some Japanese people(who were also drunk out of their minds, and didn't speak Spanish or English) and talking to a few of the Mexican girls that were there.

I have traveled alone and its hard but in the end you end up making friends, the thing here its your vibe you have to be in a good vibe to not creep people out I have seen people alone in bars and noghtclub some of them are cool with everyone but some just have a creep vibe and stay alone all night Vibe is very important I know its hard going alone and be always in a good vibe but its part of the journey just have a fuck it mindset
