Here's a key secret you won't really know until later, but trust this wisdom now and you'll start getting it's benefit early - it's a hack.

After you approach a dozen or so times, so many unfounded fears and anxieties are soundly proven to be false. Each new girl becomes an attempt, a number, a score that helps you track your progress, and like everything else in life you will progress if you keep at it.

Things that fall away are ideas like "ooh, this is the one, if this works my life will be finally good" nuh uh, each new girl is a new target for practice.

You're either going to do this or not. If you're going to do it, only experience will hone your skills effectively. So it's really all about repetitions and observing/tracking your progress, which is guaranteed with increasing experience/practice.

You did good! I'd suggest getting into the habit of talking to everyone, not just women or those you're attracted to. If it's a habit, you won't think twice or be nervous. Personally, I tend to start with casual remarks about something observable, usually funny. If conversation comes easy, build on it, then steer it to some activity or event you can invite her to. Weekly magazines or local sites are great at keeping you up to date with things to do. If she seems resistant to conversation, there are ways to proceed, but honestly, why bother? It's not like you're in love. The next one will be excited to have met you... Then swap numbers. Don't just give yours or ask for hers.

Too though .. avoid when women are in groups. It causes complications and judgement from other women towards who you’ve got your eye on.

Go for women alone or if she’s with her friend, however avoid moments if they’re in deep conversation.

I went to pick up some popcorn from the local theatre the other day. It was early so it was pretty empty, the cashier was cute so while she got my snacks I made up my mind I was going to compliment her, I said "thanks, and also your freckles are really cute." She lit up and giggled a bit and said thank you. My fav part is thinking that it maybe stayed on her mind for the day. Definitely makes me want to make those call outs more regularly

You’re doing the main part which is talking to people. So that’s good.

Here are a few other tips if they help:

Adapt a positive mindset where nothing that happens will get to you. Never take anything personally, never react to an approach with negative self judgment or negative mindsets. Keep it light, fun, and positive. No matter what.
Try to get into a great mood and build momentum as you talk to more and more people. A good mood can help alot in this game.
Self amusement. If you make people laugh, do it from a self amusing frame, not a class clown one. Don’t come accross like you’re trying to take something from the girl, or illicit something. You’re just having fun with people.
After you open, there are a few things that can help your conversations hook.

Misinterpretation. Purposely misinterpret something she says. Turn it into a fun tease or something that makes you laugh.

Cold reads. Turn a question into a statement. Instead of asking, where are you from. Tell her where she is from and see what the response is.

Future projections. Come up with a playful made up story where you and her are characters.

These are just a few things you can try. If your natural personality is working, then don’t worry about changing it up much. These items are meant to be naturalized and only used to make your conversations more interesting. To keep you out of interview mode and boring chit chat.

When you are approaching you want to be loose and in the moment, not in your head with details. So, keep doing what’s working and use any of this only if it helps.

Once, a girl I knew explained me her perspective on this and it blew my mind. She wasnt even that hot to begin with.

People approaching & making small talk was so commonplace for her, She even quit gauging if they were hitting on her or just being polite unless made completely evident.

People ranged from 70+ to 10yr old girls to middle aged women to men between 18 and 50. From bartenders to uber drivers to cashiers to fast food servers, they all had something to talk.

Women generally dont even know the man’s perspective. They think small talk is a way of life. For them, the guy who doesnt small talk is either too egoistic, busy, anti social or is a general loser.

Im sorry, if you have begun doing small talk, you’ve finally entered the normal world (women’s perspective)

However If you do small talk only to immediately out your agenda about liking her, you’d fail 9/10times unless you’re rich or are a celeb or a influential person etc.

Even after you land a girl into a relationship, you’ll have to keep making conversations to her about trivial things which seem so unnecessary, but she’ll love you for those things. And also continue small talk with most people you cross esp when with her to prove that you’re consistent!
