I’m 43 and asked for a divorce a few days ago after finding out my wife had an affair which she admitted to. We have two daughters, 12 + 11 and one is special needs. She wants to go to counseling, which I agreed I could do to help find forgiveness for her, however I refuse to live the remainder of my life with someone who betrayed me like she did. We’re located in CT, and given we both want to prioritize our kids above all else, I’m wondering if it’s possible to settle this in CT without lawyers.

I would want to split our house but one of us keep it, ideally myself because this house was actually my sisters old house and we bought it when she was trying to move into a different place with her family. So real estate agents were not needed and a heavy discount provided because it was family.

Additionally I’m fine with child support but would expect that alimony would not be required in adultery situations.

Anyway, curious if anyone has been able to execute this if two generally compromising people can come together on terms?
