I'm in my early 30's, and well past my prime in terms of SMV. I haven't had sex in about 8 years and to be honest I'm not even confident in my ability to perform nowadays....

I have been regularly working out with a dedicated calisthenics regimen for the past year, but I am still about 30 pounds over-weight, and simply not naturally attractive enough to overcome this with my facial features alone. I don't have much income to be able to invest in designer clothes to sell myself to the opposite sex, nor am I in a profession which is traditionally deemed "sexy" or "attractive".....

I'm a PhD Student with a scientific specialization... not a great conversation starter (nor do women find 30 year old students attractive), and profession is usually one of the first things to come up when interacting with women.

I just found out about this subreddit (it's the only reason I even made a profile tonight to post). I've been a bluepill, if I'm using the term correctly, most of my life and only in the last few months have I really become more aware of the reality of how the world works. I can't help but shake the feeling that I'm just too old to change now.

Assuming I'm not, where do I even begin trying to change at this point?

EDIT: Thanks guys. I was lying around drinking beer last night and in a negative mindset. Lots of good advice in the comments below. Gonna focus on my calories and studying focus inward for now.

ANOTHER EDIT: I have been enacting some small changes. My apartment is way cleaner and I gradually cleaned up my diet over a couple days. I'm starting a 1600 calorie per day cut right now which I plan to maintain for the next month. I already feel like such a bitch reading my words above. That's not going to be me anymore. Consider me another TRP recruit.
