I M52 have just started the separation process with my wife F53 after 19yr marrage and 22 years together. My wife drifted away from physical and emotional intimacy when our son was about 5. He is now 18, so it has been a while!

So far she is in the processing stage, but knows it had to happen. She has always earned more than me as a nurse and has RRSPs and has a work pension. I have no savings, but have always been a huge asset to the family in many othere ways (sweat equity and fantastic father). Our mortgage is paid and we will split the house, I will recieve a short Alimony while I retrain and get a job...

I forgot.... during a last ditch effort to rekindle our relationship, and have a last family vacation, we went to Mexico, where I broke my back in the waves. Now 6 months later I am almost fixed and ready to retrain as a Laboratory Assistant for a new carrier.

My question is. Should I also go for half of my STBX's pension?. She has worked so hard and I feel bad if I do.

She will also inherit ample funds in the next few years.
