Got rejected after the first date for the first time. Usually I always get the second date so I'm a bit confused. Before anyone mentions oneitis, I have other dates. I'm less concerned about missing out on the girl and more so on why my first date ended in rejection when I always land the second date usually.

She sent me a text saying we are too different for each other. When I asked to elaborate she said she felt like there were too many awkward pauses. Keep in mind this date went mostly how all my other first dates would go and the pauses were not awkward in my opinion. I've been on first dates with very extroverted girls and we had the same amount of pauses and I got a second date for all of them.

She is also a bit introverted so it's not like she was the only one talking, we both talked an equal amount I'd say. And keep in mind she was very receptive the whole date, smiling, laughing, holding hands, hugging etc. Maybe she likes guys t

So my question is, is this an excuse she's giving to not say the truth? And if so, what could have been the problem? The date was a walk in a park then cafe, after we left we held hands. I was waiting at her bus stop with her, we said bye and hugged, I then left. Only thing I can think of is I left in a bit of a hurry and coldly without waving goodbye. Maybe that left a bad final imprint in her memory but I'm really pulling at straws here.

Could it just be her enjoying the date in the moment but her changing her mind after reflecting on the date?
