Feminism is like a religious cult. It attracts people who are weak and have no strong sense of self. It teaches them to view themselves as victims (or in the case of men, oppressors) and this helps them form their identity in relationship to the world around them. It's why feminists are downright rabid in defense of their ideology. It isn't just a set of beliefs to them. It's their best friend, their protector, their god. Feminism is a fundamental part of who they are and when you reject it you are threatening their very existence.
These women are like stray animals and Feminism is the owner who took them in and fed them and sheltered them. They'd sooner start slitting throats than turn on their savior.
It's important to recognize this because any woman who cares enough about Feminism to try and convert others to her belief system is a "true believer." She is so deeply entrenched in this ideology that she will never be turned from it, and indeed will spend every waking moment obsessing over how to bend others to her cause. Women like this are the socially acceptable version of crazy. Don't stick your dick in crazy.

Nice try. You'll never find the same level of rabid dogmatic belief that exists among feminists here at TRP. While it certainly does attract guys who have been chewed up and spit out by the gynocentric system the main difference is that here men are taught to take accountability for their lives and improve themselves in order to achieve happiness. Feminism does exactly the opposite. Feminism takes weak women who have never had strong identities and encourages them to think of themselves as weak victims who are controlled by "the patriarchy" and have no power over their own lives. So at TRP you have a program designed to empower men while with feminism you have a program designed to disempower women. This makes a noticeable difference in how devotees/adherents respond to criticism. Criticize TRP and I'll chuckle and shake my head or if I'm feeling generous I'll explain why you're wrong like I'm doing now. Criticize feminism and feminists lose their shit. They rage at their keyboards, call in bomb threats, pull fire alarms, and scream at the top of their lungs. Because feminism has taught them that they are children. So they act like children.
TRP isn't my savior. It's a healthy dose of rationality in an ocean of feminine hysteria. I'll admit it's a relief to hear other men say the same politically incorrect things about women I've always thought but I couldn't really care less if people like you hate it. Hate on hater.

I actually considered doing the same thing you just did, even as a due and devout redpill user.
The only problem I had was "it teaches them to view themselves as victims"
Red pill does not make you the victim, it tells you that you have been fucking up your entire life. It shows how it is your fault and no one else can help you but you. So yes, it is a religious cult, it does attract the weak with no sense of self, it is out best friend, protector, and god. But, it doesn't distill weakness and pity. Red Pill destroys victim mentality, and puts you in your place, letting you work up to something you can be proud of. Feminism does no such thing, it claims that everyone is against them and there is nothing they can do about it. The only thing that needs to change, is not them, but society itself.

Honestly, I can't speak for anyone else here but red pill for me attracted me because I had a strong sense of self that identified with some of the messages here. i.e. desires that people told me to repress and replace with feminized versions and it was simply a breath of fresh air to see a place of unbridled masculine space with no tone police, no rules or guidelines pertaining to political correctness and no bastardization of my instinct to be as dominant and assertive as I naturally to be. RP is not a fundamental part of who I am, it is just a reflection of reality a map of the playing field and an honest discussion of how to obtain results from it.
There is absolutely no opinion on how things should be. There is not even any discussion of morals here. Sexual strategy is like a functional device, say a hammer. You can use a hammer to build, or destroy. That is on you. The store clerk or DIY guide does not discriminate. And there is no national ideology/movement for hammering.
Another reason RP isn't really an ideology or a movement like feminism is because if we were, we would have a PR division, which we don't. We're more than happy to be reviled by the rest of the internet and the world in general. We're more than happy to fuck a girl and join her in bitching about "players" the morning after. Nobody here is rabid about defending anything, and would probably never share with their SO any hint we ever read these strategies online. And only a fraction of us(say ~a few hundred) even go beyond TRP and debate people, even on the dedicated debate sub, purplepilldebate. We have absolutely no feelings on people who reject it past asking them to not waste their time here with us and leave. And we sure as hell don't feel any need to fight or protest on behalf of RP.
Red pill isn't about a saviour, it is actually the opposite, in that it places complete responsibility for everything, your happiness, her happiness, loyalty, your success, desirability, etc on you. You're not a victim here. Nobody will afford a shred of sympathy. And if they do, a larger group of people are still just holding their tongue but still (correctly) identifying you as a loser. Read stages of redpill or mod statements if you want an idea of what that is and how pervasive it is. TRP as a sub is a bit more than meets the eye. I'd liken it to a incubator for a RP attitude and mindset, but with a temporary allowance for newbies to whine under the tacit expectation that eventually this whining will stop and we will get back on topic.

I don't even know why these types of women date men, when they clearly have such huge issues with them.
It's just a huge series of shit tests. She's begging to be dominated. Levels of cognitive dissonance with some women are stronger than others.
[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 12 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
That's kind of the point though: women like this don't deserve to be dominated. They deserve the pathetic wispy girly men that beg to hang out with them. They were made for each other.
Whenever a feminist asks: "Where have all the good men gone?" tell them: "They are with the good women."

She probably only complains to her feminist friends to get validation from them. It is their version of a dick measuring contest, "You think you are a big victim? I am a bigger victim than you!" Not sure if 'her' post was a troll one. The language it was written in seems almost too 'valley girl' to be true.
That being said, I agree with your sentiment here. Feminists, at their root, are still women. Women are social creatures that thrive off of jockeying for position amongst their peer group. Just, in this case, instead of comparing jewelry and cars their husbands have bought, it's a race to see who can come across as most oppressed.
I'd put money on the fact that she broached the subject once, got shut down by her boyfriend, and is hamstering the rest of the conversations.

and the fact that all my closest friends have been raped, and those who pressed charges were told, in one way or another, that it was their fault
This makes me think that all her friends used LMR, then decided they were still DTF, and promptly regretted it in the morning.
That, or she seeks out fellow victims to befriend- those with no self esteem who true rapists spot as good targets because they typically keep their mouths shut.
I suspect the former, the LMR. If only they knew they were hamsters, maybe they'd take it less hard and drop the victim BS. Nah.

For how much I hate victim blaming, you sure are jumping the train to blame the girls here. Jesus.
Have you considered the idea that it could possibly be just blind chance?
[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
It can't conceivably be victim-blaming until you've demonstrated someone was victimized. It is like blaming someone because you didn't like what you ordered at a restaurant- nobody committed a foul, you were just unhappy about how it turned out.
Sure, let's consider it.
Ok, what percentage of girls are forcibly raped in the course of their lives? Let's call it 3%. This doesn't count girls who are drunk, but not passed out. No, I can't cite a reference for the number.
Let's say the author has 4 close friends. We use math to say that 0.034 = 0.00000081 Then let's say there are 300 million people in the USA, half female, so 150,000,000. multiply 0.00000081 by 150 million. That gives us 121.5 So we'd expect there to be around 100 girls in the USA for whom all of their close friends have been raped, if there's no friend-selection for maximized misery. That seems pretty unlikely. Another way it could happen is if the girl thinks LMR relenting to DTF counts as rape. Then it looks something more like 0.74 *150 million, which is about 36 million. The assumption here is that about 70% of women have done LMR in their lifetime. I can't cite this either, but it seems about right.
Anyway, the most likely way this works out (assuming blind chance) is that these girls are using feminist definitions of rape, which include LMR occurrences as rape.
The next most likely way this works out is if all these girls were legitimately raped and then met at a self-help group and became friends.
Anything else is so rare it doesn't really merit further consideration.
[+]jacobman -7 points-6 points-5 points 12 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I never said you were victim blaming, but you could be. I said I dislike that whole thing. I very specifically said you were blaming the girls, which you are, without good reason. I don't know if they're victims.
People talk about rare shit that happens to them online all the time. I'm constantly amazed by the stories that I hear online (yes, I know, many aren't real, but my guess is that many are). How many people have you come across that have said all of their close friends have been raped? This is the first one for me. Also, you have to consider that people of like minds attract. Perhaps she spent a lot of time talking about feminism after her experience, and happened to become friends with other people who got into feminism for the same reason. It doesn't even have to be a self help group. Just people gravitating towards those that understand their experiences.
[–]CyricYourGod 8 points9 points10 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
What a brave knight you are. Defending the honor of strangers on the internet. Here's the thing: most victims don't snark about their victimhood. Victims tend to feel shame for what happened to them, particularly when it comes to rape, not empowerment.
Given that this is Reddit, you should err on the side of her being an over-exaggerating attention whore. She used her "abuse" and the "rape" of her friends as a tool to gain sympathy for her argument and get people on her side against her boyfriend. Normal people don't do that. Manipulative bitches do that.

Maybe I'm jaded because I'm in the military and see the effects of "equality", promotion quotas and lowered standards don't make a stronger military. Promotions and job acceptance should be race and gender blind as well as college induction.

I'm thinking college induction has more to do with K-12 schools oriented better toward girls, allowing them to perform better on tests that are also oriented toward girls.
Guys aren't getting into college because a) they don't want to and b) they aren't learning/testing well in the current school systems.

Not just military, same deal in IT. Blockheaded women with no interest in IT end up getting entry level jobs over passionate men who have far more qualifications simply because it looks good for hiring numbers and quotas. Getting into IT as a woman is seriously the easiest thing in the world, wear a nice dress and tell the hiring manager you know how to restart a computer.

Ditto in firefighting. You've got women who struggle throughout the academy and fail multiple tests that still get hired, because there aren't enough women in the fire service.
I think any job that requires more than a modicum of physical ability or strenuous work has this issue.

Fell rp firefighter here. The pussypass in the fire service is real. I know of a department preparing to put a paramedic(without a day of firefighting experience) in charge of an entire shift of firefighters. Why? "Because we've never had a female in that position."
Falling back on the feminism as a religion debate, it seems to me that the movement as a whole has been sending out what could be likened to "missionaries". Putting women in positions they're not always suited for solely for the right to say a woman did it and 'open doors'. And if there's any push back from common sense, they're prepared to follow up with class action lawsuits and political pressure to force the issue.
Unfortunately in some instances (I have personal knowledge of one), it's gotten someone killed. I'm sure there are more. Combat, police work, and fires don't tone themselves down to stroke your ego and protect your feelz.

The real lesson here is that she's not seriously discussing leaving him. She wants to change him, and he flat out refuses.
Were feminism really that important to her it would be a deal breaker. That clearly isn't the case. Pay attention gentlemen. Dating a woman with wildly conflicting views, while not advisable, is possible if you swing a set of brass balls and refuse to let her lead.
[–]Dreamtrain 1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This was my first thought, this guy clearly knows what he wants and it's different from what she wants, and his ideology is different from hers, definitively not a recipe of a successful relationship if she wants someone who treats her as an equal, if she doesn't likes it, the door's right there, who is stopping her? There's surely plenty of men out there who will yield to her, who will compromise, who will seek out to validate her feelings and empathize with her.
Oh that's right, those aren't options yet.

All this gender bit is, really, bullshit.
I've had this talk. More than once. I've used these arguments before, though never all at once to my recollection.
All of us had as many ancestors male as female. So my ancestry would be 50/50 victim and oppressor, if we take that view, so it balances out. Unless you want to deny the "victimness" of those women?
A son does not inherit his father's debts; they were not his, so he is not liable. And I do not accept that burden of atoning for being the "privileged gender". That was then, this is now. You want compensation, go ask it of all those dead guys.
You are alive today, not dead from sickness or childbirth, because of medicine and science discovered by men, not women. Put that on the account.
My ancestors did this and that - they burned people at the stake, they conquered lands and enslaved people - but I was not there. The gold they spent - it was not me. If it WERE then you might ask. But if that were so, I'd slap you silly and send you to the kitchen. Aren't you happy I am not?

I've dated feminists and I'm friends with a few as well (skills are similar for dating or friendship). This guy is doing it all wrong.
If she mentions some random feminist silliness, you don't get defensive. You ignore it. Maybe amplify - if a friend of mine discusses rape in the US, I agree with her and discuss rape in India [1]. She can't disagree, yet it makes her complaints sound silly. If she calls me out on something she perceives as sexist, i embrace it. "You know that sounded sexist, right?" "That's how it was intended." Otherwise, just treat it as a cute little quirk of her personality.
Surprising to hear it, but maintaining frame actually works.
It also helps if you restrict yourself to the thinking feminists - they do exist, though they are small in number.
[1] Imagine a place where nearly every complaint US feminists made about "rape culture" and similar things were actually true. Welcome to India.

Feminism is nothing more than an unfortunate byproduct of the post-modern world. I completely believe that should a major natural disaster or some type of international/global conflict occur, we would see the fall of the 3 biggest drains on society: Feminism, HAES, and the effeminate male hipster. Why you would date a feminist idk, but I'll tell you this: If they start going on and on about muh suffering, then ask them, "If someone broke in to our home (God forbid) do you think I'm going to hide behind you? If someone sneaked up behind us on a walk or a date and snatched your purse, do you think I'm going to stand here and offer to hang on to your pumps while you chase him down?" FUCKING EQUALITY AMIRITE?!
This isn't about me bending my will to yours, this is about opening yourself to a different facet of human experience and the rampant injustices that still exist today!
"This isn't about me bending my will to yours, it's about me bending your will to mine." Oh hell, it would have been easier if she'd used the damn idiom properly. I guess one thing they don't teach in women's studies is how to write.
There is somebody out there, I know, who wouldn't hear me plead about how it's important to me because of my abuse and the fact that all my closest friends have been raped...
Ah yes, the trump card. If I had to guess, her "abuse" boils down to daddy saying "no" to her occasionally, and the "rapes" her friends endured were next morning regrets. I'd like to know how many of these women, including the author, have taken their stories to the police.
I don't know why anyone would date a feminist, but I agree with OP - at least the guy has enough balls to call her on the BS.
I've had this conversation before and honestly, a lot of the articles these feminists use are horseshit. They will try to fall back to talking points that have been disproven and will move goal posts and ignore what you say, then claim that you're just being closed minded. Once they realize that you require actual evidence and logic, they will cry about it.
Why not debate each and every point.
