Why is it the burden of men’s/boys’s organizations to make up for the failure of women’s organizations to offer what women/girls want? If the Girl Scouts failed to offer activities girls want the solution isn’t to let the girls into the Boy Scouts. The solution is the Girl Scouts should get their act together and offer activities the girls want.
I don’t mind, coed venues. The problem I see is the one-sided nature of viewing this. Men’s venues are seen as sexist and need to accept women. Women only venues and spaces that discriminate against men in contrast are encouraged and seen as female empowerment.

So you gave up your nice big workshop space just for men and now you have a small room about 1/8 the size of your original area that is “just for men”. Until one of the women decides they want that too.

Sally Miller Gearhart (born April 15, 1931) is an American teacher, feminist, science-fiction writer, and political activist.[1] In 1973, she became the first open lesbian to obtain a tenure-track faculty position when she was hired by San Francisco State University, where she helped establish one of the first women and gender study programs in the country.[2] She later became a nationally known gay rights activist.[2]

In her early career, Gearhart took part in a series of seminars at San Francisco State University, where feminist scholars were critically discussing issues of rape, slavery, and the possibility of nuclear annihilation. Gearhart outlines a three-step proposal for female-led social change from her essay, "The Future–-If There Is One–-is Female":

I) Every culture must begin to affirm a female future.

II) Species responsibility must be returned to women in every culture.

III) The proportion of men must be reduced to and maintained at approximately 10% of the human race.

Gearhart does not base this radical proposal on the idea that men are innately violent or oppressive, but rather on the "real danger is in the phenomenon of male-bonding, that commitment of groups of men to each other whether in an army, a gang, a service club, a lodge, a monastic order, a corporation, or a competitive sport." Gearhart identifies the self-perpetuating, male-exclusive reinforcement of power within these groups as corrosive to female-led social change.

Thus, if "men were reduced in number, the threat would not be so great and the placement of species responsibility with the female would be assured." Gearhart, a dedicated pacifist, recognized that this kind of change could not be achieved through mass violence. On the critical question of how women could achieve this, Gearhart argues that it is by women's own capacity for reproduction that the ratio of men to women can be changed though the technologies of cloning or ovular merging, both of which would only produce female births. She argues that as women take advantage of these reproductive technologies, the sex ratio would change over generations.[14]

Daphune Patal in her book Heterophobia: Sexual Harassment and the Future of Feminism summarizes Gearhart's essay as, "The future must be in female hands, women alone must control the reproduction of species; and only 10% of the population should be allowed to be male".[15]

Mary Daly supported Gearhart's proposals, stating: "I think it's not a bad idea at all. If life is to survive on this planet, there must be a decontamination of the Earth. I think this will be accompanied by an evolutionary process that will result in a drastic reduction of the population of males."[16]

Oh the media loves tales like this. Every.single.time I read one of these puff pieces it’s got some version of “the women are so respectful of the fact it’s a men’s space” - in this one they have the woman asserting they “haven’t taken over”. Well when some place is 50% female it isn’t a “men’s space” by definition. And by what criteria does this woman think they haven’t “taken over”?

I’ve pointed this stuff out over and again here. It’s not just high end, elite clubs they demand women be admitted to. It is clear that there is no space men have that women/feminists will NOT demand women be admitted to. And this includes that “quiet room”. Women are supposedly half the members now, how can they justify denying half of their members access? They’ve already expanded women being there from a couple of days a week to all the time. I don’t see how they can continue to exclude them from the “quiet room”. And if the equal opportunity laws are the same as in my state it won’t actually be legal to do so if some woman mounts a legal challenge!

Feminists are incredible. They demand access to men’s clubs and spaces. And then defend having women only clubs and spaces with amongst other things claims men don’t want men only spaces.

The BBC's picture is very apt. Allowing women in to male spaces is as it almost always is, a trojan horse.

The whole point of the Mens Sheds was for men to have somewhere to escape to and to escape from very often abusive women. The women cannot and will not allow men this freedom. This place where they cannot control them. Now they have been forced to hold themselves up in a single room to get away from the very place they established to get away to.

The men are like turkeys at Christmas being stroked by the farmer carrying the axe. They think the farmer is their friend.

Soon the women will do as they ALWAYS do.

- A choregraphed 'offence' will be taken by a woman.

- A false claim of abuse will be made.

- All of the other women will #ListenAndBelieve even though they all know its a lie. Its a lie that benefits them.

- A demand for 'change' will be made.

- The women will appoint themselves as controllers of the 'shared space'.

- The women will begin making it 'female friendly' & 'inclusive', ie systemically discriminating against the men.

- The men will be forced out.

- The women will declare it a 'female space' males must be banned from. For womens 'safety'. The male simps will defend the women who hate them.

Rinse and repeat.

There's a local knitting group in my area that's just a bunch of old ladies. One time I started asking questions about when, where, and how often they meet. They were immediately suspicious that I, a man of 38, would be asking questions about their knitting circle... The men's sheds movement was a wonderful thing for men. A place to learn and connect with other men. I went to my local one a few times but ultimately found that being about 30 or more years younger than everyone else there made it hard for them and me to connect. Having women there is going to further reduce men's opportunities to connect with and support each other. At what point do we say enough is enough. Build your own fucking thing and stop destroying every chance we have to create friendships and support networks.

This sounds similar to how married men start off sharing a house equally with their spouse, until soon they start feeling like an unwelcome guest or visitor in their own dwelling. First they are exiled to the basement, then it gets worse and suddenly it's only the garage where they feel welcome. After that they are homeless and living in rentals or some small camper by themselves. That's what happened to my Dad. My brother too. And even from a distance, it's terribly unpleasant to watch unfold.

We know these double standards exist.
