I’m offering my wife an equal 50/50 split $550,000 in cash and a $250,000 top-up to her pension. She came into this marriage with nothing, and now she walks away with financial security for life. She could easily buy a four bed just two minutes up the road in the neighbouring estate.

She’s told me, repeatedly, that her priority is to get away from me “that nothing matters more”.

So if leaving me is so urgent, why is she insisting on staying in the family home for the next eight years? Why confine me to a one-bed flat or a house share where I can’t even have my children overnight? That’s not escaping me that’s punishing me.

She won’t be getting away from me for a long time with that attitude.
