For the past two years, things between us have been unstable. She has constantly gone back and forth about getting a divorce. Last week, she finally filed and told me she wouldn’t contact me for 28 days—apparently that’s the “magic number” to break a habit. That only lasted three days. Every time she reaches out, it starts nice and then quickly escalates into telling me I’m a horrible person, that my 15-year-old son is a failure, and that my family doesn’t support her—even though she’s the one who pushed them away. She’s been repeating the same things for the past year, and I’m exhausted by it. I mostly ignore her because none of it is productive.

After I don’t take the bait, she switches tactics and tries to pull me back in with sex, saying it’s “hard to give up good sex,” and then sends nudes trying to get a reaction—but I feel nothing from it anymore. When that doesn’t work, she gets frustrated, then suddenly acts nice again. That’s where I struggle, because her moments of “niceness” give me false hope about a future that realistically isn’t there. I don’t know if this is just mind games or what, but it’s messing with my head.

I finally told her these conversations are irrelevant now and that unless it’s about the divorce paperwork, I don’t want to hear it. I deleted her number, blocked her on social media, and made it clear this was her decision, and I’m at peace with it. Living through the same cycle for the past year has been insanity. I was sad at first when she filed, but the next day it felt like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

The only reason I haven’t blocked her completely is because I still need to retrieve the rest of my son’s things and mine, and I’m waiting for the call to sign the final divorce paperwork so I can close this chapter for good.

Do you have any suggestions? Should I just block her and forget about the rest of the stuff for now, or is this something I just have to deal with until everything is finalized? It feels like she waits until I’m having a good day just to sabotage it.

I’ve put in real work in therapy, and I can see the results. Therapy has taught me a lot, and I feel like I’m in a better place for myself than I’ve been in years. I just haven’t had the time to talk through all of this with my therapist yet, so I’m looking for advice.
