One of the biggest giveaways of someone that doesn't understand women is how they grossly overweigh the significance of one line or one moment.

People who are actually good with women understand that you don't need to rely on a single line.

What matters is the cumulative effect of your interaction.

Even if you used the best opener in existence, if the ensuing conversation and attempts to flirt are terrible, you won't get anywhere.

Many times I just start conversations with functional questions like, "Do you know how this works?" or "Do you know the way to X?"

If the right line was all it took, guys would be getting women purely based on their opener. You wouldn't even need to go on dates or talk any further.

No. Openers are highly overrated. As long your opener is not out of pocket and gets them to talk to you, you’re good.

I can guarantee you most women wouldn’t remember what your opening line was. In general they would remember how you made them smile and laugh overall.

If you're struggling with direct openers there are a couple of common problems:

your general social skills were not developed before you started approaching women you're interested in
your delivery is off, you're not doing warmups and approaching at volume to improve your mood and skill
you're not doing that many approaches and are assigning too much importance to each rejection
your overall presentation isn't good (in terms of dress sense, haircut, weight, and so on, it's going to be very hard if you don't at least have halfway decent SMV)

Now based on your posting history you are commonly overthinking single interactions. You have a thread with the title "Why didn't it work?" where you describe a single interaction. There is no reason why it didn't work: the most common outcome from cold approach is getting rejected no matter what you do.

Don't bother with the "expert" guys in this thread telling you you absolutely shouldn't go direct, in other threads they openly admit to doing low volume and one of them even admits to mostly getting his results from OLD and social circle. Indirect is valid but yes one of the weaknesses if you make it your bread and butter as a beginner is that you end up spending too much mental energy on the exact wording of the opener which is an issue you've identified.

For me, that "special opener" is a prop...

For exampe, I have a leather bracelet with a skull charm on my right wrist. When I see a girl I want to approach, I loosen the knot and then pretend I'm struggling to tie it back with my left hand. I go up to her and say: "excuse me, 2 seconds... could you help me tie this? I can't seem to get it with my left hand."

While she’s tying the knot, I ask: 'Do you have a bracelet too?' or 'I see you’ve got a nice bracelet' or 'I see you’re NOT wearing a bracelet... but this whole thing gives off such an artsy vibe. Are you more into sports, or something creative like painting or dancing?' And just like that, I've created a topic to talk about. Actually, whatever she does can be framed as creative: whether she's a hairdresser, accountant, student, waitress, cashier, everything has a creative side (use your imagination, and you'll find something creative in whatever she says).

Next, without pause say an assumption, a guessing: 'I knew it! You’re way too easy to read. So you're a (hairdresser / whatever she said), but you don't look like a local, do you? Because I’ve never seen you around before...' ( now you're fishing to find out where she's from wihout asking her directly).

Now it gets tricky, because you've found out her workplace and her hometown. What's next? You can drop a funny story: 'Wait, did you say you're a hairdresser? A friend was telling me about her ex who had the same job but she became a total coffee addict because of it... Are you into coffee too?"... or... "Do you live in [XYZ-city/area]? That sucks! I was in a bar there once and this guy fell right in front of me and yelled that the bar's ghost pushed him!" ...or any other funny story.

Now you have an opener and 2–3 examples of how to keep the conversation going. In real life, though, you'll see that conversation is fluid and you can't follow an exact script, however, having this framework is a huge help to get you started

Do you really think a so called "player" will overthink shits most of his time or does he just do what makes him a player and do it for him?
I am a player even tho I am still learning I don't go with the ego and don't fuck em.

I don't even think about it, let the conversation flow and say whatever comes into my head. You need to be true to yourself. Using canned openers and routines is putting on a performance with an outcome in mind and attractive women who are streetwise will smell it a mile off.

Concentrate on being social and building your social skills. When you can comfortably talk with anyone, you can then start running game with minimal effort and thought and yeild better results
