Make damned sure you really never want to pass your gene pool on.

For me it wasn't a big deal. A few little sticks of local anethestic, about 30 minutes in the stirrups. Sat around for a day or two, but was never really very sore.

The literature I read beforehand said some guys experience a sort of deep ache in your pelvis after orgasm for a while. I did experience this, but it wasn't bad enough not to want to cum, and it faded away after a few months.

So I had a vasectomy at 22. Canadian, so mine was paid for. Told it would cost upwards of 35k to have it reversed. It felt like you got kicked in the balls the morning after. That's the worst of it. Scar is tiny and unnoticeable.

If you decide to do it OP, keep it a secret even from friends and family. Hide or destroy the paperwork. You don't want to filter all your future partners to just hookup hos who never want a relationship. Even if you don't think you want a LTR now, that could change.

[USA] Have a urologist do the surgery. They do a few of surgeries each week in assembly line fashion and get very good at it. Recover: a day sitting on ice packs with lots of swelling and then no issues. I know someone who had a quack GP do it. It didn't work and ended up with 6 months of pain. Get someone who knows what they are doing.

Can you ever "recover" from a vasectomy? Or is it permanent?

I want to get one in my twenties but i want to have sons with surrogates in the future. Is it reversible? And how long is sperm usuable for after the vasectomy? Do they freeze it? & how reliable is that?

Everyone knows women use their uterus as a weapon. A vasectomy is the shield that they can never get through. It gives YOU the choice in reproduction. It doesn't hurt, even if they had to do it with pieces of old rebarb and salt it would be worth it.

Just had one two months ago. There are non surgical options out there (mine was), it takes 20 minutes and recovery was about two weeks for me - had sex after a week.

After it's done you just need to make sure you rest and no lifting of any kind for a week or so. I'm in Canada so it was free.

If you're worried about eventually wanting kids you can bank your sperm. I'm really happy it's done. It takes a big load off your mind that you don't have to worry about women doing their birth control properly.

One thing other posters are neglecting to mention is the peace of mind. That niggling worry each time you have sex? After you get that call confirming you are firing blanks, it's gone, brother. Sex becomes so much more enjoyable. If you are sure you don't want kids, do it. The surgery is safe and routine, and recovery is about a week of discomfort.

Got mine 6 months ago. Very little pain during procedure (mostly just from the local anesthetic shot). Very minor dull pain for a week or two after. Was able to resume normal activities after a week. Fully healed in about a month, scar barely visible.

Get a urologist. Mine was 100% paid for by insurance, but I'm in US.

I had mine 4 years back. I got an infection afterward, recovery was slow and at first I regretted jeopardizing the well-being of my cock ...but I now have peace of mind and he's been working fine ever since. Chance of infection is low, so my luck sucked. Oh well.

Hurt a bit, but more just uncomfortable than anything. Insurance paid for it all. Reversal is expensive as shit and less likely to be possible the longer you remain fixed.

I'm 45 now, and had a vasectomy done when I was 38. I felt a slight prick when the local was given, some tugging when the tubes were tied, and a slight bit of heat when they were cauterized. I walked out of the docs office with nothing more tha a slight bit of discomfort; more of a "something happened, but it doesn't hurt kinda feeling.

That same night, the wife (ex now) and I got it on. No problem at all.

To this day, I have zero regret. Not one iota. It's a liberating feeling, knowing I cannot get a woman pregnant.

Had mine done a bit over a decade ago. No impact on libido that I can tell, I'm still a horny bastard. Wouldn't know about reversibility, I have done my bit to contribute to the continuation of the species, no more kids thanks. It hurt a little bit, like minor surgery does. Take painkillers and don't be a pussy :)

Canadian here so mine was free. Took 5 minutes and then I drove back to work. No pain during, and very little during recovery since I pre emptily popped some Advil for 4 days. Was easier than a trip to the dentist. Google scalpelless needleless vasectomy, that's what my doctor did.

Overall very worth it and would do again in a second. Had some dull occasional testical pain for a few months but not super bad. It took me a full 3 weeks to even pretend I was recovered but I would say 5-6 weeks before I started to forget it was done. The operation was in fact surprisingly painful and the smell of cauterized ball sack was interesting but overall go for it man just be prepared to chill for a couple weeks. The peace of mind that you no longer have to trust your partner won't get knocked up is priceless. To my understanding you will stop producing sperm after a couple years of being backed up so reversals are not really viable after that.

I cannot wait until the experimental chemical based male birth control completes human trials and can be used. It effectively renders your sperm immobile, destroying their motility, and it leaves the vas deferens intact. All it takes is an injection under local anaesthetic, and has a recovery time of a couple hours. plus, in the event that you find a life partner who themselves have taken the red pill, you can have it reversed.
