Lol boy bands and pop stars have been getting the same critiques for years, from one direction and beiber (when he was a teen, before he was publicly an asshole) to *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys, and even further back to even the Beatles. These artists’ managers know that their audience loves a well groomed, sensitive guy and lean into that image, and then these groups are disparaged as being feminine or gay. It seems to me that having a throng of female fans is very opposite of either of those things, but that’s LVM logic for you.

What drives me nuts is how black and white these guys get. Personally, I'm not really attracted to the K-pop type, I prefer more traditionally masculine features. But it's not like you have exactly two options and MUST pick one. There are infinite choices between "K-Pop star" and "unwashed Marine back from a month in the field".

Hell, even the military emphasizes proper grooming and appearance lmao. The stereotype of a man looking good in uniform isn't because of some magical powers in the outfit, it's because they're usually fit, groomed, and wearing clothes tailored to them! It requires surprisingly little effort too, I have seen the laziest damn Marines get their shit together when they know they've got exactly one heartbeat to unfuck themselves. The guys in the OP are just ultra lazy slugs, but they don't realize it takes less effort to actually do it than whine and make excuses about it.

Oh please. I grew up in the 80s, also known as the decade "when the boys were prettier than the girls." Almost every musician wore makeup. Hell, almost all of the boys in my class in grade 6 and 7 wore at least eyeliner. This is nothing new. But instead of thinking they're innocuous these guys actually get angry and intimidated by them.

I come from a culture where men touch/hug/kiss on the cheek other men. My father and brother have held hands in public. Male friends will put their arms around each other. The same comfortable contact was one of the things that jumped out at me from those photos. I love it!

Ever notice how defensive men get when other men do anything to make themselves more attractive? They'll lash out and call another man gay just for taking care of his appearance.

And don't get me started on men wearing makeup. I honestly think they hate it so much because they hate the thought of men having to do what women do every day to be conventionally attractive. They love what they have going where men don't have to do anything to themselves, yet women have to constantly think about how appealing they are to men.

Any time I look at a man now I notice just how unappealing they are. Greasy faces, no skincare, unkempt eyebrows and hair. I'm attracted to men but you have to at least try lmfao.
