My BF and I are both currently in college. We've managed to continue living with our parents during college. We're both expecting to move out relatively soon after graduation and have started discussing the possibility of moving in together.

We both come from families/cultures where women run the home. He's used to his mother doing nearly all the cooking/cleaning in the house (with some "help" from him and his father) and he's made it clear he'd expect the same from me. I don't particularly mind this as I come from a similar background.

My bf has made it clear he doesn't plan on getting married and I just don't think it's fair that I take on the responsibilities of a wife without being a wife, it's obvious that if I do all his cooking/cleaning he'll have nearly no reason to marry me. I'm not trying to use this as leverage to change his mind, we're both still fairly young, I'm still not quite sure about my direction in life and probably neither is he.

As for right now I could see myself cohabiting with a man but I'm not going to do all the cooking/cleaning as well as contribute 50% of the finances for a man who isn't even my husband. That being said splitting everything 50/50 doesn't seem very "romantic" lol, I guess it feels cold and clinical and silly to expect a man to share the cleaning/cooking with me. But on the other hand moving out and living with roommates separately seems equally strange and cold when in a LTR.

Any advice? Should cohabitation we avoided at all costs? Is negotiating household duties tantamount to negotiating sex/commitment/attraction?
