How common/normalized being a SAHF is?

My dad was the stay at home parent. Happily married to my mom for 30 years before he passed away. How he did it: He made a shit ton of money and then retired, my mom went to work for personal fulfillment, not necessity.

My husband is currently the stay at home parent, we've been happily married for 12 years. How he does it: he fucks me good, commands respect, and brings what I value to the table (note, I don't value any of that beta provider bullshit).

I don't think it's normal....yet. But it will be, and people will need to adapt or cry about a past long gone.

My dad was a stay at home father, but he's the only one I know irl. I don't think it's common, and it's somewhat stigmatized, but it shouldn't be. And I think it's slowly changing.

I think there's a difference between being a stay at home dad and just being a loser who can't find work. Being a stay at home parent is a choice because you want to stay at home to raise the kids. Not being able to find work or keep a job is involuntary. Currently society doesn't normalize SAHD the way it normalizes SAHM but I'll bet that will change over the next few generations.

I am repulsed when I hear that someone is a SAHF. That is just my gut reaction and I can't help it.

I hear of stay at home dads a lot on reddit, not so much in the real world. But then again, most of the people at my work are male. And most of my friends are in their 20s.

I have never known or spoken with anyone who thought being a SAHD was as respectable as being a SAHM. Men are expected to do all their traditional gendered duties, while females cavort around defying traditions where and when it pleases them.

It's definitely not common and somewhat stigmatized.

There are some stats going around saying that SAHF will end up being divorced more than working ones.

I know a few though, and they seem good with it. Ironically, they are doing it because they are far enough advanced in their careers that they can take a few years out without worrying about employability. Their wives are making bank at work.

In reality, I imagine this is more the case. Dedicated SAHParents these days need financial and career security, so SAHF are likely to be well-off and successful.

There is no way in heck I could manage it, either financially or career-wise.

It's easier to be a SAHP than a SAHF.

The Stay at Home Pimp is common enough, and it's not hard. It just doesn't pay well.

Lot's of SAHD's "work at home" (12 hours / week) or they have a "home business" (making $500 / month) or something else they can use as social cover while actually being a SAHD. I don't think there's anything wrong with being a SAHD, but it's not widely accepted (yet) which is why I think a lot of them aren't completely open about it.

The writer of Rick and Morty is deeply familiar with TRP/RP. It is so blatantly obvious at how jerry is treated and how rick, a heartless asshole who is exciting entices his own daughter. Not sexually but a deep admiration. The show has so many layers to it that it is not a main focus but RP is present.

As to your question, it is extremely rare, and is a horrible idea for the majority of men. THe only scenario where I see it being good for the man is if he is very feminine and enjoys being dominated by a masculine woman.

it is a TERRIBLE IDEA for 99.9% of men. I have seen this successful setup 2 times in my life, and was completely taken aback both times.

There is only a single situation where it actually works: where the man is a tall, handsome, muscular, high T, ALPHALPHIEST of ALPHAS, and the woman is a lioness who brings home the bacon and absolutely adores her husband. She must be completely submissive and deferential at home, basically all over him all of the time.

The fathers I knew in this position were great with kids and very encouraging to both sons and daughters.
