Also, this idea that a less-educated woman is going to be more peaceful and pleasant is nonsense. I actually find the opposite to be true. This is anecdotal, but my parents are from very different worlds in terms of status - my mother comes from a blue collar, poorly educated family and my father comes from an upper-middle class, well-educated family. The women on my mother's side of the family (including my mother) are without a doubt more batshit and argumentative than the women from my father's side. Not only are they more argumentative, but they're also dumber, which is a very frustrating combination.

What you're calling "low status" jobs are some of the most stressful jobs out there. I'm currently at the most high-status job I've ever had and it's also BY FAR the least stressful job I've ever had (how else would I be on this damn website all the time.) Sure there are exceptions, but jobs where you're on your feet all day, dealing with shitty customers, cleaning up other people's filth and sucking up for tips hardly make for stress-free, blissful people. There's a reason waiters and retail workers drink and smoke like crazy.

So sorry, but I don't see low status workers being happier/less stressed.

Also, honestly, the proof is in the pudding. Who are established, professional men marrying? Established, professional women, for the most part. Not waitresses. This is why it annoys me when men on this sub are like, "Women shouldn't waste their time on those job and degree thingies. They just need to be sweet and pretty and a high-status man will take care of them forever." It just has no basis in reality. It's "be nice, be yourself" for women.

First of all, most women will have both argumentative and pleasant sides, whether they are lower or higher socioeconomic class.

Assuming that a lower socioeconomic class (SEC) woman will just 'put up and shut up' is total fiction. Once she gets comfortable around the man, even if his RMV is notably higher, she's going to push her luck at some point over something because she doesn't know any better. If smarts and college/SEC class are correlated, a better educated/higher SEC class woman should prove far more reasonable when it comes to settling arguments in an objective manner.

And personally, I find far far more nasty/bitchy/unpleasant lower SEC people than high SEC people. By a long shot.

I disagree, to be honest.

I love smart women. I probably value intelligence more highly than anything else in a woman (yes, I have overlooked physical 'flaws' in favor of a smart, interesting woman --- however, a lot of smart women tend to be pretty hot).

Education is a good proxy for this, so when someone says they have a master's degree or something, I get a little excited.

But a smart hairdresser is as good for me as a smart doctor or vet or whatever. She just has to be smart.

And it's not about her understanding my work. It's just about having conversations and getting along.

I know a lot of high status men through my work and they're all married to accomplished, educated women. in fact I can't think of any men in my life who go for pleasant dullards who work in the servic industry (shitty hours, stressful.) in fact I know more women who were dumped for being too compliant and boring (a few) than I know who have been dumped for being too smart or challenging (zero.)

I think it really depends on the specific high-status job.

I work with a lot of lawyers and almost every male lawyer I know is dating/married to a female lawyers. Lawyers tend to be more extroverted/intellectual and enjoy a partner with these traits.

However the vast majority of Doctors I know marry nurses/medical assistants etc. Why? Doctors are more likely to be introverted control freaks who work 90 hour weeks and couple up with whoever is around them.

The business owners I know are more likely to have a stay-at-home wife. However some don't. I think the only really consistent and accurate observation you can make is successful men almost always have attractive wives regardless of her "status". I don't think status really matters that much to guys.

I work at a hospital, a lot of doctors are married to other doctors. My theory is that med school, residency, and fellowship keeps you isolated in one world so for people who want a partner, they get the most exposure to other people in the same program. The doctors I work with don't make the same kind of money other specialities do and combine that with their gigantic med school debt I am not sure they are really much more that nicely upper class.

The idea that lower class workers are happier people is complete bullshit because many low income jobs have their own stressors. I would not want to be the check out cashier at my local Walmart on a Saturday, that looks like a shit job.

There is a corporate expectation that the wife/serious girlfriend that a man brings to his corporate events is going to be professionally and personally accomplished.

Partners in a law firm will not tolerate an associate with a waitress on his arm. Hedge fund managers expect their wives to be able to parse industry (and even office) gossip, and be helpful in their projections. C-level executives expect to donate to their wives' philanthropic activities.

Those men rose through the ranks in part because they had a certain class of woman on their arm, and expect their mentees to show the same level of professionalism.

Nah, ime it's so much better to have someone on your level. My mom is not well educated, has very little life experience, and came from a poor socioeconomic background; she doesn't even know how to do her taxes, let alone provide for herself. In swoops my dad, with his family of college grads and own degree, making money and taking care of her. They're utterly miserable because:

A: my mom loves to start drama and by extension, arguments. She has nothing better to do and doesn't understand how hard my dad works.

B: my mom loves to spend money because she doesn't know how to plan financially.

So they are not this picture of harmonious family living. My fiance and I, on the other hand, are both college educated and have well paying jobs. We often discuss differences of opinion as opposed to having loud, drama filled arguments about percieved slights, and we both have a similar financial planning style and know we have to save for retirement.
