Actually, while there is something to be said for self-improvement, your base genetics will largely determine your potential. If you are genetically unfortunate, the best thing you can probably do is to improve your social and economic status.

Anyone who doesn't lift and spend every waking moment trying to improve himself is a quitter. I have seen an example of someone who was unsuccessful and he became successful, so I therefore erroneously conclude that this is possible for everyone.

For example, if you are particularly short, while I believe that height isn't necessarily that important, this is a big disqualifier. Many, many women won't look twice at you if you're particularly short, you will face a massive battle to attract someone. If you are short and bald, you're in big trouble, particularly with young women.
