I think VR porn with "attachments" is going to come along way before fully functioning desirable affordable sexbots. While I'm sure that when the sexbots come there are some guys (and gals!) who are going to dive in headfirst, yeah, it's just gonna be the next generation of porn. And there will be addicts and people who prefer it to the real thing, but I think the breakdown will be more or less the same as it is currently. Everyone will use it to some degree or another (and more will use it than admit to it or to the degree they use it, just like with porn) and the ones who use it to the point of hermit status wouldn't have been out there getting laid anyway.

it is NOT the omega incels that will affect the dating pool. it is the popularity among BETAS that will. Betas are the lower value women marriage and dating pool. a man who is banging a hot jessica alba bot or two a day will not put up with one particle of bullshit from some low value real woman.

Hiring a hooker is undesirable for low value men because you have to look a woman in the eyes and tell her what a loser you are, buying a sexbot will have most of the upsides of a relationship but there will be the added bonus that it's not judging you. High value men ironically probably care much less about doing this.

I can see these things really taking off.

I would never get one because it won't fulfill my egotistical desires like a human can.

That's even assuming the technology goes that way and is affordable for the common man within this century. Assuming ones idea of a sexbot is more than what we have today.

Actually, that's a question if love to see answered. When you think sexbot, what qualities do you imagine? How sophisticated is the AI? Movement? Simulated emotions? Speech? Response to verbal stimulus?

I think many of you are missing a key point. What kind of sex bot? If we're taking about a fleshlight on wheels then no. But if they were indiscernable from people like in the show HUMANS then yes huge impact. People would still date and get married and so on but only for honest reasons. Many peoplea are in relationships for the purpose of sex and companionship without longterm goals I'm the future. If your average Incel can rent/buy a realistic Scarlet Johansen to cook clean, listen to their BS and provide blow jobs why would be bother going to Match.com and face theur realities of dating. That doesn't mean the same guy won't want to meet a real human in the future and start a family but it will definitely impact the dating scene.

Also we would have less rape in the US and abroad. It will still exist but in far lower numbers. This would only work if it's cheap enough for your everage Joe. People would be less likely to rape someone and face the consequences if they could legally bang a supermodel for 20 bucks.

I think for people saying that legalized prostitution has no impact on dating I think the main reason is also cost. In countries where it is legal I be belive it's still somewhat cost prohibitive for most poeple. On the flip side I have heard of monetarily well off people say that paying for sex is much easier than the hassle of dating. For them the cost is equivalent to an average Joe getting an amazing blowjob for $5 bucks.

It's not a matter of if but when the realistic sexbots will come. It will change many parts of society but I think the first to be impacted are the bar and club scene. Many dudes only go to bars and clubs attempting to hookup. They don't actually care who's DJing, think the music is way too loud, don't like to dance and definitely don't appreciate paying $15 for a watered down cocktail.

Just my 2 cents.

Also, if you guys have never seen the Movie HER you should check it out. It depicts how a person can fall in love with an AI and I think the movie shows this point very clearly.
