Their study excludes virgins- you can see that in the bar graph of how many partners people have had, where the lowest number is 1 but the totals add up to 100. So yes, I think their numbers are surely high for all college students- at best, accurate only for sexually active college students.

To her credit, she cited the FAQs for the Kinsey Institute and this academic article.

So while the author, Lindsay Goobersoly, may indeed be "super awesome," her research skills are subpar.

You have to be careful about these college surveys. My college put up a bunch of posters that said shit like: "88% of students here have never smoked weed." What they failed to mention is that they went dorm to dorm to get answers for the survey on a Saturday night.

9% of people who have had a one night stand had twenty or more. The infographic provides no information about how many people have not had a one night stand. (Presumably many.)

It all refers to polling and surveys, which when it comes to sex are notoriously inaccurate. I'd take it with a big grain of salt.

I've seen other surveys that showed that kids in college are having less sex than previous generations when compared at the same age. I don't really buy these numbers. It's also really easy to get bad data out of surveys, and the media doesn't really care about accuracy. They care about content that gets page-views, which gives them an incentive to use data that's as shocking as possible. The numbers initially seem high until you consider how they can come to be.

If someone is rocking the single life for three years, and 75% the time hooks up with someone new once a month that adds up to 27 partners.

Sounds like what you'd expect. If you're reasonably attractive and single most of the time, you'll end up somewhere between 20-30 partners when you're done with college.

I found this article a great read. If true, these statistics, and the conclusions that can be drawn therefrom, are nothing less than shocking.
