Maybe I think too highly of the male sex, but I doubt that sex with women is actually a leading motivation for most men. They say that if men can get cheap, easy, good sex without working hard in life, they won't. I say bullshit. Sex bots will not demotivate men from being highly productive members of society. I also don't think that most men hate having to deal with their girlfriends and wives, or that most women are particularly mean to men. Introducing sex bots isn't going to destroy male female relations either. Men will still want female companionship. I'm not going to say what women in general value, but I for one have never been too terribly interested in boys or hung up about getting a man. If I had to choose between putting in a lot of effort to keep a guy around or being single, I'd happily be single. So I'm certainly not worried about sex bots. I have an idea of how much men are worth to me as boyfriends and husbands. Other women will also have to weigh their options.

To build on my personal view as a woman, I wouldn't care too much. I don't think they are going to replace me, and I think that the fantasy and women grovelling at men's feet, begging for their money and support after men have been "liberated" from female sexual control is just MGTOW fantasies. I think I make a good girlfriend. I give the level that I think is fair, and I wouldn't want to do much more. If I would have to try desperately to please men to keep them in a relationship with me, I'll just single (perhaps even a happily single woman). Don't don't have much more offer me, not anything that I don't offer them in return. While male companionship is nice, I've never needed it to be happy or live a fulfilling life. And that is why I don't feel threatened by them at all. I don't think that they would even threaten my place as a girlfriend, but if they did, I would be fine with it.

Imagine a companion that provides the emotional and logistical support of a 1950's housewife.

She will iron your shirts and clean your house. Run errands around town, do the grocery shopping, prepare meals, answer the phone and schedule appointments. When you get home from work she doesn't scold you for being late. She rubs your feet, heats up your dinner, and provides pleasant conversation. Later on she puts on her sexiest outfit and tries to seduce you. Her body is warm and soft and after you both cuddle and talk about what needs to be done this week and what your goals will be in the future. She will never divorce you, cheat on you, steal from you, lie to you, judge you, talk shit about you behind your back, invite her mother to live with you, or commit violence or abuse against you.

Also, she will never grow old. Her software can be updated, hardware replaced/repaired. You can upgrade her hair and face and body. You can install programming to teach you a language or learn a new skill.

When you want you can even have a kid by purchasing an artificial womb (sold separately because we don't want her to get fat).

The problem with all this is that this kind of bot will be hella expensive. Only highly successful men will be able to afford one.

And that is exactly the kind of men that women want to marry.

No woman will ever be able to match the loyalty, skill, and stability that can be programmed into a sexbot. She can sing, play piano, cook gourmet meals, read Japanese, paint a portrait, care for children, inspire her husband, and do so with greater emotional stability and all without the risk of divorce raping her husband and taking his kids because she feels like it.

I know women don't GAF about the poor men who are losers in our society. Yet, those will be the only men who can't afford a sexbot (or at least not one that can compete with an actual woman).

The more expensive and advanced sexbots become the more of a status symbol they become for successful men.

Could ask men the same thing, really. I mean a lot to be said for a bot who has a custom-sized penis (and tongue as well) that can go for as long as she wants, in the way that she wants, and only as and when she wants, and then can be sent off to do the dishes or take out the trash or whatever other useful thing she needs done around the house, and never watches porn, or plays video games or drinks beer or farts or leaves the seat up and so on. Seems like that would be perfect for many women, really. Emotional support? She can probably get that better from her BFFs, really. I'd say that if there ever really are these kinds of things (I don't think we're any way close to having them), they basically take out some of the market of both sexes.

There are some flaws with the arguments here. Brietbart thinks IQ is some magic number. Mostly it's an indicator for childhood development rather than an indicator of actual intelligence, cleverness and emotional sensibility. Honestly, a huge chunk of the whole "I am super intelligent" community is mired in a faulty piece of tech. The best example is that San Bushmen and outback Aborigines score poorly on IQ tests but they manage to survive in hostile environments. They live in an IQ test where if you score low you die.

I am afraid the Western view of Japan is based on nerd culture, It would be like assuming all Americans live like the people in My Name is Earl or all British people live in giant manors.

You are aware the genders do get along perfectly fine? I mean the people who cannot get along are a handful of people who have nowt better to do than hate other people.

It fits into a fantasy where Red Pillers aren't interested in WHO they fuck rather than they simply fuck. Like, I get casual sex. But the idea of what constitutes a casual relationship is not necessarily useful to determine what a real relationship should be like.

It may not just be sex robots. It's conceivable that VR technology could also get more elaborate, and people might be able to greater immerse themselves in some kind of virtual "world." People would be able to appear however they wish, interacting with other participants, not computers or robots. A lot of people do that already, but the technology could be a lot more elaborate in the future.

That could possibly be even more dangerous and threatening than sex robots, actually.

I believe the assumption here is based on current perceived difficulties for men in terms of sex with women. Its considered a dangerous prospect by many groups that are male focused for myriad reasons, such as false rape accusations, pregnancies with no say, and so on. Compounded by these articles and sentiments that more and more men are checking out of relationships with women altogether. Herbivore men in Japan and other Western countries are showing a growing number of men who refrain from relationships and lead a meager but pleasureful existence apart from women.

Having established that if this trend were to continue based on factors of perceived aggression by society toward men i.e. radical feminism and so on, sex bots (depending on implementation) could theoretically provide a healthy sexual release for males that could nearly remove the negative aspect of that lifestyle with little/no sexual relationships.

The questions I've seen raised by some ladies on the internet, or even outright calling for banning sex bots is that its more than a sex toy. It marginalizes women by theoretically being able to provide an experience that could be akin to a relationship or at the very least a dynamic and fulfilling sexual experience as opposed to rudimentary sex toys. Some here on reddit actually bothered to hypothesize that it could also be rape if we've created a robotic intelligence to serve people sexually.

Personally, if the technology to develop these became advanced, and societies continues to promote the growth of herbivore men, it eventually could become a problem for future generations of people who want romantic relations with the other gender.

In any case, sex bots aren't even the largest threat in this category. Once the HTC vive and Occulus and their children become mainstream with content, a VR based pseudo-intelligence (or perhaps actual intelligence down the line) and sexual gratification from this could genuinely fool the human brain and fulfill the brain's desire for that human need of relationships and sexual fulfillment.

tl;dr - Its not that people are threatened by a sex toy. It is being heralded as something more. If men continue to check out of society and are given a vivid/dynamic option like this, it may only serve to make the choice to avoid personal gender relations more popular.

Personally? No. I feel like the ones that would be a personal threat probably won't be invented before I hit menopause/get old/no longer crave alpha dick like fat kids crave candy. Here's when this is going to get bad.

Imagine there's a perfectly happy couple. The guy gets a sex doll as a fun novelty. One day the wife says she's not in the mood, go use the sex doll. So he does. A few weeks later, same thing. After a few times of being rejected, he stops initiating altogether. That's when the issues start, because while she does not need sex as often as he does, she does need the validation. Then imagine how many times an average male is rejected over his life time. What if we offered him a chance to eliminate that experience from his pursuit of sex....

I don't think we need sentient robots. I think something a little less rudimentary than this will do. We are not talking about something that is in the far off distant future. We, the people reading this, are a few years away from wives complaining, "my husband is addicted to the sex bot and won't initiate sex anymore." Or "my son won't date because he has a sex doll."

What is in danger? The feminist, head-in-the-sand approach to sex and gender norms. Lets be honest, guys get gfs and wives, at least in part to get laid. Women agree to these arrangements, at least in part, with this understanding. We can now say that and act accordingly.

Not at all threatened - if anything it will be a good thing. Say that they were to explode in popularity - with our technological advances, we will be able to grow children or form children in the near future without a man injecting his semen into a woman (and in some ways we already have means to do this) so the future of our species won't be threatened, which is the only downside I could see coming from this. Other than that, it can only be a good thing imo, since the kind of people who get by on looks and charm in life will actually have to do a bit of work to be valued in society. I guess what I'm saying is if there comes a day where everyone can just customize a mate for themselves (since, undoubtedly there will be male sexbots as well), they will be pretty immune to mate seeking strategies from less perfect humans. This will mean that to have value in this life, you will need to work hard and earn it, which is how it should be. I'm actually fairly attractive (back when I gave a shyte about looks and other dumb shit, I did some light modeling) but thankfully I found my way out of that useless mindset and realized that just getting shit I want because I looked good wasn't very fulfilling. So I stopped taking care of my appearance (don't mistake that for becoming unhealthy - I am in great physical health, but for health reasons, not because I want to look good) because it doesn't matter. Of course I'm clean and healthy, but that's a matter of hygiene and well, health. I stopped using my looks to get stuff and started focusing on using good old fashioned hard work to achieve shit on my own. EVERYONE should do this, it makes me sad to see how many people rely on looks to get by in life. I am of the opinion that as humans, we have a duty to contribute to and enrich the world, and the only tool that is truly capable of that is the brain. No ones beauty ever made the world a better place. All these wasted brains that never realize their true potential because they were packaged in a pretty body, and humanity hasn't evolved far enough past its sexual instinct to not get distracted by them. Sex bots would be a sufficient distraction, I think, and then people would be forced to become useful. We have a lot of brainpower that could be tapped into around the world, but a lot of it is wasted on something as pointless as beauty.

Yes. Simply because if robots become that powerful they are going to not just take over the sexual market place but the world as well. They will sabotage humanity. Tranhumanism should only be allowed to go so far.

If Robots were created simply to be advanced masturbatory aids and nothing else I can't see them being a real problem. However, if the technology becomes advanced enough to allow them to care for children, do basic tasks independently and be companions then I think the human race is in trouble. If a robot can be programmed to do that then what else can a robot be programmed to do? Robots don't eat, drink, sleep, don't have human rights and don't require a wage. Robots will replace human workers in a majority of job positions. This will be mayhem. Not to mention the impact that advanced transhumanism could possibly have on our relationships. The future is going to be a completely vapid and isolated place to live if it's allowed to go too far. I say sex robots alone are fine, as long as they serve only the basic function of being penetrated and resembling attractive women. I don't think this alone will impact humanity too much. Thing is, "sexbot/artificial womb" is how exactly how women have been viewed and treated by men throughout history, thanks to patriarchy. Our only function was to be used for sex, or used for offspring. Having sex or reproduction machines normalizes the view that it's ok to dehumanize women, own women's bodies and use us as sex objects.

Thechnologies like these need to be examined to make sure they'll actually assist in the liberation of oppressed classes rather than exacerbating the problems of power and privilege in our society. I can see ways that women might benefit from having essentially, more advanced vibes... This might actually help women overcome some of the power imbalance in society and take back our bodies. Men having access to sexbots and artificial wombs however, would take power away from an already oppressed class, and would therefore be harmful.

Honestly, i see this as the ultimate expression of privileged white male STEM nerd contempt for women. They're literally using technology to enshrine the concept of woman-as-sex-object... And people wonder why feminists have a problem with STEM?
