Why are TRPillers so sure that women love opportunistically while men love idealistically ?

What evidence do they have so support this claim ? Do you think it's true ? Are women incapable of idealistic love/are men incapable of opportunistic love ?

I'm only Purple and so I'm not a Redpiller, but this idea is IMO one of my biggest problems with TRP.

No one loves unconditionally. No one is capable of the kind of "true love" we hear about from Disney. Frankly, that kind of love strikes me as a mental illness, basically as romanticized codependent personality disorder.

Men and women are just as fickle and awful as each other. Men "trade up" for higher SMV women too (i.e. divorce the old wife and shack up with the hot young girl) - its just legally harder for them to do it without sustaining financial penalties (alimony etc.).

I'd presume many TRPers were once idealistic about love and perhaps even in love, and then got dumped in favour of someone more conventionally sexually attractive. One aspect of our society's notions of "true love" is that looks are not really relevant to it and "true love" involves "seeing inner beauty."

When this is proven to be a silly myth, TRPers seem more willing to blame women instead of blaming socially-prevalent lies. So I think a lot of their anger (manifested as the "women cannot feel true love" theory) is the misdirected anger of the socially-deceived.

If everyone - of both sexes - was raised with less idealistic notions of love and relationships we'd probably be a far healthier people.

This is true about females too - another post on this thread (from /u/AmericanHistoryAFBB) quite appropriately points out how women are raised with the belief that they deserve Prince Charming and nothing less than Prince Charming. And frankly, only a small number of women will get a Prince Charming.

So yeah, its time to ditch Disney Romantic Love Happy Endings Twoo Wuv 4Eva fantasies.

Women seem to get bored of their SO quicker than a man would get bored of her. This is where hypergamy and AF/BB comes into play. The moment something better comes along, the man is divorced while having to pay child support and is the woman's slave for the next 18 years.

This is one example I can think of off the top of my head. A man would be content sticking it out with a woman he is attracted to for a much longer period of time than the women would stay for the man. Men and women are different. For many beta men, all the woman has to do is look pretty and simply be there. It takes a lot more to keep a woman around, and this is where holding frame comes into play.

The moment a man messes up once, in my personal experience, the women is out the door to the next guy. Unfortunately, for a man, simply being yourself is not enough. You must lead her and be a man in order for her to stay put.

I think that women can fall out of love quicker then men if their needs aren't being met so maybe that is why they say this. Honestly I am confused by the statement as well. I think it goes back to the idea that the average woman has a clear advantage in the dating/marriage market over the average man and thats why they say women are opportunistic or hypergamous. They can get something better so why wouldn't they take it, whereas the average man often can't get an above average woman and most settle with average or below average women.

I don't think mans love is any less opportunistic. RP even admits that the main value of a woman to a man is her beauty. So it stands to reason that if a man is in a relationship, and younger hotter female comes around, the man will have little problem leaving his girlfriend.

TRPillers believe that women are more self-centered than men and they get this part right mostly. How much weight should be distributed between female biology, upbringing, and the generous bounty of men that women are free to choose from is debatable. However, the premise itself is sound and well rooted in reality.

Love, as it's meant in practice however, is a selfish concept motivated by greed and desire. Men may be more generous in relationships due to being relatively less self-centered, but to believe that male love is "idealistic" requires a detachment from reality. Their love is motivated by selfishness just as a woman's may be.

Its because women lose attraction to men who are more invested in the relationship than they are. So if a man and a woman love each other, but the man starts to love her more than she does him, she falls out of love with him. Its as close to a law in romantic relationships as you can get.

This is why 'dread game' and other tactics are so useful for keeping women in relationships, they need to feel more invested than their partner.

Men don't give a shit though, they are happy to love their partner more than they do them. Thats why they are more 'idealistic' in their love, its less selfish. They are also far more willing to lay down their lives for those they love than the other way around (for evidence of this, just look at any life-or-death situation, its nearly always the case the man sacrifices himself for his woman)

Men may not love idealistically, but given the trouble we take upon ourselves to seduce women its almost prerequisite that we'd behave as such.

Men put in the effort and risk in courtship: We initiate, lead, sustain relationships, to say nothing of all the other factors that might come into play: Career, Style/Looks, Social life. A woman merely has to look good and be available, there is no social risk to be taken or even pressure to provide anything to her mate.

So how else could men or women love: With everything to lose you'd ought to be committed, with nothing at stake might as well be opportunistic.

Yes.
No and no. Women feel idealistic love, strongly, but it's more fleeting and susceptible to change in women than in men. Men are definitely capable of opportunistic behavior.
Why I think that? Aside from my own experiences, it sounds like a solid sexual strategy, and the women who behaved this way were more adaptable to their environment and able to propagate that behavior further. It was the best strategy to handle both bonding with partners and changing the bond to new partners when the mate wasn't the best option.

If you have one piece of cake and a man and his female partner are sitting infront of it. Who would get it ?. 99.99% of times the man would offer it to the women. 100% of the time, Women will not offer it to the man.
