For those who aren't familiar, Emma Sulkowicz is a senior at Columbia University who claims she was raped by a fellow student.

She reported it to the university 8 months after it allegedly happened. The accused student, Jean-Paul Nungesser, was found "not responsible" by a university panel that heard evidence and testimony from both sides. She initially decided not to file charges with the NYPD, but changed her mind and did so. The accused spoke to two district attorneys but charges were not brought against him.

She criticized the school's handling of the case and began carrying a mattress everywhere with her everywhere she went in protest. Her goal is to protest the administration until the accused rapist is removed from campus, although the university doesn't have legal grounds to remove him as her claim was found without merit. Her act doubled as a piece of performance art entitled 'Mattress Performance: Carry That Weight', which is her visual arts senior thesis. She was Sen Kristen Gillibrand's guest at this year's State of the Union speech and her art was hailed by art critics Jerry Saltz and Roberta Smith.

Recently, the guy she accused spoke out to the Daily Beast and revealed texts transcipts, that Emma verified as real, which show that she texted him on a very friendly basis for several months after the supposed rape happened. These include: “I love you Paul. Where are you?!?!?!?!” “Lol yusss … Also I feel like we need to have some real time where we can talk about life and thingz because we still haven’t really had a paul-emma chill sesh since summmmerrrr” “whatever I want to see yoyououoyou … respond—I’ll get the message on ma phone”

His supporters say this story supports his story that they had consensual sex. (She claims he anally raped her and choked her out.) Her supporters say she suffered from a type of Stockholm Syndrome, where she was subject to her abuser's will in ways that made her act irrationally.

What say you PPD? This seems like a stark case where TRP and TBP might clash in interpretations.
