As per the title, I’m curious about how many older people, older in the sense of LTR/ marriage experience, had the butterfly feeling from the beginning of a relationship compared to those who slowly built a loving relationship over time?

Background info. I was in a LTR with someone who was my first love. And from the first date, up until our break up, I never thought we would not be together or I would ever find someone better for me. Since our break up, I have been seeing a beautiful girl for the past year. She ticks all the boxes and I can truly see her being a great life partner. BUT other than in the beginning stages of our courting I have not had that same intense feeling of ‘she could be the one.’ This has slowly died and whilst I’m still very attracted to her it worries me that in the back of my head I feel there might be another person out there for me who will bring back those same intense feelings.

So to make Long story short, I have a great gal who ticks all the boxes except for that intense feeling I had for my ex?

So my question really is for those who have been in LTRs or better yet marriages. Did your feelings grew stronger as time went on or did you place a high importance on having that ridiculous chemistry from day 1. And if so did that chemistry slowly die or is it still as strong as when you met?
