A man's desire for sexual variety increases with the amount of notches he collects.

A man who has never tasted the chemical ecstasy of multiple heady flings has no visceral grasp of what power it can wield on the mind. You can spot the crypto-virgins and low-n-count men in many obvious ways (even through the filter of an online medium) but one of the most obvious ways is they'll show a disdain or lack of interest in sexual variety. They think monogamy is easy, and they have an exaggerated sense of their virtue for their loyalty. Explain to them the Coolidge Effect and they'll deny it has any application to humans.

I've seen posters on Heartiste's blog (like King A) condemn him for the pointlessness of repeated flings, invoking tepid philosophical arguments to buttress the point, unknowingly giving away his hand that he is not attractive enough to have experienced the staggeringly invigorating and addictive pleasures and excitement of sleeping with many hot, beautiful women.

It's like someone who has never taken DMT or psilocybin giving their opinion on what effects the drug has on the mind; they're clueless. Any men out there who have an opinion on this who have not slept with many 8s and 9s: you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

A "switch" goes off in a man's mind when he has tasted very high success with women, and it creates a drug-like desire for more of the same. In men who have not experienced this success, this desire is barely a flicker of vague possibility that's easily repressed and satiated through porn and continual refappings to that one hot conquest from ten years ago. You can't become a drug addict without experiencing the drug.

There is a pervasive myth that sleeping around gets "boring" (I've heard this over and over from unattractive fat dudes shackled to unattractive fat girlfriends, claiming they have no more interest in "sowing their wild oats"). Owing most likely to the Coolidge Effect, most men who truly have the attractiveness and means to sleep with many scorching hot women will find monogamy extremely difficult, constantly in a state of sexual frustration for the turned down opportunities. That is real virtue: choosing to stay monogamous against all temptations with someone who's worth it, rather than having the choice made for you and then cluelessly rationalizing your virtue post hoc.
