99% of men’s dating woes come through the lens of OLD. Whereas women seem to be more evenly split between OLD, and real life, organic dating situations. This has a pronounced affect on our views of one another.

I think this also explains the subtle, yet very real disconnect between the male and female posters in PPD, and reddit in general. (Maybe even off the internet too)

Whenever I read comments from men, nearly all of their experiences, perspectives, and beliefs about gender norms seem to be through the lens of tinder, bumble, hinge, POF, match, OKCupid, etc.

Whenever I read comments from women, yes, there are many perspectives with dating through the lens of OLD. However, there are also a great deal perspectives, preferences, and beliefs on dating with people they met organically.

Its important to note that there are significant differences in the dating experiences between OLD and real life situations. There are subtle, yet, different social rules and procedures as to how you handle things and how men and women behave and interact with one another.

OLD is lower risk, but far more difficult to be successful with. However, it is extremely convenient, hence why men often find it the more attractive option

Real life situations (I.e. friends of friends, cold approach at the bar/club, etc.) are much higher risk, much less convenient logistically, but do offer a much better chance of success for men

I’m not ashamed to admit that, I’ve creeped some of the comment histories of the less jaded male Redditor’s here and, one thing most of them have in common, is that they recognize just how stacked against them the odds are with OLD economics, that they simply choose not to do it. They, instead, stick with more organic means....the result seems to be that these are men who are far happier, confident, and have a less pessimistic view of women overall.

If I’m right, then it makes me wonder how that would change our discussions that we have on PPD. Would it give anyone here a better or newer insight on gender dynamics? Would it help us have more productive conversations? Would it give us a better understanding as to why each gender thinks the way that they do and why they hold the beliefs that they have? How many people here date using OLD vs organic? To what degree do you use OLD vs Organic?
