I’m an Eagle Scout. I was forced since middle school to help autistic kids in my troop and volunteer for ungrateful unhealthy boomers. Yea there were some good times. But these programs are to drop your kids off so you can have “me” time. Shit makes my blood boil.

I was in the scouts for a time. All they EVER did was have meetings once a week where they begged parents to be scout leaders. No camping, no outdoors, nothing. Just weekly begging. This was in the late 1980's/early 1990's. Good riddance.

I don't think it has to do with girls joining. Don't take this the wrong way, though. It's an absolute disgrace when they allowed girls to join the BOY Scouts. They allowed them to join to save their declining numbers.

The reason was most likely due to decades of sexual abuse among minors, according to the many lawsuits.

Another could be because the Mormons dropped their charters for the Boy Scouts entirely. They lost like 400,000 boys.

I was in scouting during the 70s, and got all the cub awards, and as a boy scout , rose to Life(below eagle, and one of 2 regrets of inaction I have in this life). It was a blast, did a lot of camping, and such as that probably averaged 10 campouts a year. Most of the leaders were our parents, and when we werent doing our hike, or whatever the weekend activities were, we were allowed to hike on our own , or whatever. In the evenings, the men all hung out, drank beer, smoked, and listened to a ball game on radio, leaving us kids to our own devices. I remember actually us catching a rabbit, and skinning and eating the damn thing . Now, scout camps(my own son was in 10 years ago)..have become pretty boring. Heck we shot real guns, and stuff back then. More than once we did public service for the cities by clearing land, or such at parks or whatever. One year we all had our summer camp bill covered by a friend of one of the adults, who had us kids spend the better part of a couple weekends at his lake house , landscaping for him(we got to camp on the water,which was fun.) Political correctness has ruined scouting.

For anyone still wanting to participate in Scouting without associating with Boy Scouts of _____________ (America, Canada, etc.) you can still do this, through the non-profit traditional scouting organization World Federation of Independent Scouts. You can run your own Scouting group without some national level bureaucrats telling you what you can and cannot do. You can still have yourself an all-male Scouting troop. Or, if you so desire, an all-female, or a mixed gender troop. Whatever you want. The World Federation of Independent Scouts sticks more closely to the original fundamentals of Scouting as Baden Powell outlined, to promote good citizenship and wholesome physical, mental development; and training in habits of observation, discipline, self-reliance, loyalty, and useful life skills. Basically, to help boys become good men. None of this watered-down bullshit that exists today. You can still teach boys about wilderness survival, how to shoot guns, and the other skills a boy can use to set him on the path to manhood. I know many troop leaders who cut ties with The Boy Scouts to become an independent scouting group.

Those aren't Boy Scout uniforms, those are Venturing uniforms and Girls have always been included in Scouting--just not in the conventional route to an Eagle badge since the 1930's--that was reserved for boys in an attempt to prepare them for adulthood without the ambient peer pressure of simping. Venturing crews and Explorer Posts were a way to allow girls to experience adventure, responsibility and personal growth with a peer community and without having to sell cookies outside of Sam's Club on the constant.

I have come to know some awesome young women at Camporees and other functions, they were stand up citizens.

My son's Eagle certificate is signed by Rex Tillerson, former United States Secretary of State, the guy who ushered in gay Scout Leaders. I'm not judging...yet, but I'll wait and see how that turns out.

It's sad, but I am sure the organization will come out from bankruptcy, and it will be financially OK.

What's unknown is its viability in the long term, I doubt that its membership will tend to increase, if I were to guess I would say that its membership trend is to decrease, we just don't know at what rate; if slow, it would be an orderly downscaling (consolidation of chapters/center) if it's significantly fast ... there will be another bankruptcy and it might dwindle down to a ghost of the organization it once was.

And that's sad.

Even sadder will be that some feminists will celebrate it as the death of a patriarchal institution, or some other BS.

I think the savage truth is that the Gay Mafia killed the Boy Scouts. In demanding that gays be allowed to act as Scout leaders, they convinced major craven public companies to withdraw their financial support to the Scouts "because gays are no more likely to be child abusers than heterosexuals." That may be true, but men by themselves are not allowed to take Brownies or Girl Scouts on camping trips.

So, the gays cut the financial support from the Scouts, then frankly scum wiggled out of the woodwork to claim they had been abused by GAY in-the-closet Scout leaders 30 years ago. I see these guys in their 50s crying on TV about the "abuse" as they hold their hands out.

I was a Scout leader in Virginia in the 1990s. It was absolutely strict that no Scout leader or two related Scout leaders could be alone with a Scout. It was rigorously enforced. I'd lead a class of ten boys. At the end, two or three would stay behind to ask questions. Then one would leave, questions answered, then another. The last waited to ask his question and other Scout leaders would rush in immediately after that next-to-last Scout left, to warn me I could not be alone.

Girls entering was only the coup de grace. The Gay Mafia got their way first.

My understanding is that it wasnt just this. It was also earlier stages of wokeness and this was just the final punch that has put them down for good.

Ive heard that the financial strain of having to pay out for all the historic gay rape/assault cases (from the earlier woke push to ensure that gay scout masters werent excluded) combined with a bunch of the more solvent parts of the scouting organisation (such as the Mormons) splitting off to form their own organisations once they were going to be forced to be uni-sex is what has ensured their destruction.
