I've been struggling or ignoring hard to define it, maybe avoiding my calling. We all have that whisper telling us of our dream, no matter how much superficial activities you surround yourself in, the voice inside will carry the same message. Used to think it was silly to want to sing etc. Well I've come to terms with it finally, I didn't use my voice when stuck and down through childhood. It's just a BIG need to express myself on subjects people find too heavy to discuss. But that's my life
I truly believe we have dreams bigger than the mundane 9 to 5, we're just scared to be judged etc
[–]Gronfella7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you have a voice inside telling you to do something and let external voices dissuade you then it's only you who loses.
Terry Crews said he'd always wanted to learn to ride horses but his friends growing up mocked him so he never started, fast forward a few years and he's a millionaire etc and finally decided to start and said it has one of the best experiences of his life and he sorely regretted listening to his friends and not starting sooner.
I also want to learn how to sing and won't let anyone elses opinion dissuade me because at the end of the day, fuck them, if I don't learn then in a few years I'll be the one sitting in bed regretting not starting, you aren't doing these people a favour by listening to them and not yourself, you're just curbing the "real"you and any unrealised potential you may have.

I'm having a hard time deciding what my next step in life is going to be.
#metoo. Now at mid-30's. Most women my age have children already or want to have them. Most guys my age, also have children already or want to have them. Hanging with these people, they try to cast me for a babysitter, or to add to the rotation. And they'll give nothing in return. So, people my age, I lose most of them. So it's either more going with the younger crowd or the older crowd. It's also the first time in my life, that lifestyle with my age peers start to differentiate. In the youth, we had kinda similar lifestyle and interests (aka. into playing and games, then at laters teens/20's together into trying to set up life with eduation/work/house, trying to hit and pick up girls together, etc..). But now for the first time in my life, the interest and lifestyle starts to be different alot with them. Which makes it difficult to relate, and to do stuff, and so on. There are dudes my age that don't have children, but most of them actually do want children and a wife but can't get one. Due to looks, or status, or personality. And they are not fun to be around as well, because of their negative attitude towards their current lifestyle and bitching about it. While, for me it's a a chosen lfestyel. Me, not having children. It's really up for me to conciously decide. What to aim for next, that I consider meaningfull and enjoyable enough to go after.

I can relate to your post a lot. Same situation have few good friends all of them eventually got married and since then friendship has changed I hardly see them now as they are busy working extra hours to support their wife's. I have tried making new friends but felt like I was putting in more effort and I end up just spending my time listening to them complaining so I was like fuck it.
[–]eduardkoopman6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
all of them eventually got married and since then friendship has changed I hardly see them now as they are busy working extra hours to support their wife's.
#metoo. Especially, when children come into the picture I found. Just married without children, was still okay-ish often. But, with children + wife. Most of these guys, only care about hustling for their offspring and wife. And the rest, can fuck off/doesn't matter anymore. And they often lose the concept, of reciprocation or balance. All about, gathering, accumilating, extracting from the world; so to give to the child and wife. Well, I'm like fuck that; my happiness is paramount in my life. So there has to be some balance, and the other needs to know and akwnoledge and try to keep a kind of balance. That balance, is often toatlly lost.
The best way to describe, I see the world treating me as a single dude in mid 30's+: "you don't have your own kids/family. And therefore you have time to help out the family/fiends/aquitances that do have kids/family. Because they are so busy/stressed for keeping the family running. So, help out, don't be selfish and help people that need or can use help. And what if I need help, or asked for it? (from experience, I expect nothing). Therefore, at this moment in time, it makes most sense to not or barely have friends my age. Most/all are only concerned about extracting/fighting for their family, also at the expense of anyone."
[–]Kbost921 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That’s when I tell people “it was your choice to get married and start a family, so don’t expect me to have any sympathy for you or help out.”

I am starting to complete myself almost 30 years old. I was a brat when I was 25. When you dont have money, you don't have anything. You need to earn decent money, then you ll start to build yourself up like a building, you will be in need to complete yourself with time. Because if you wont do it, noone will do it for you.

This, and stop telling yourself that you are bipolar. It's a meaningless label made up by frauds. There is a reason that most psychiatrists are women. Its a useless philosophy based on the same foundation as feminism. Its all about being a victim and not taking responsibility for anything.
Just cutting out sugar and carbs from your diet does amazing things for your mental health because it allows your brain to function much better.

Try to get on actual cbd, not the oils. Get yourself some complete amino acids, vitamin D and sunlight. A lot of time we are lacking nutrients and put us in a bad place, it worked for me. Also some anti inflammatory like ginger and tumeric, they seem to have improve my mood. Lastly, take care of your stomach, work on your intestinal wall since it helps produce a great part of your serotonin. Read up on this stuff, hopefully it will help you.

Probiotics, nutritionally dense, anti inflammatory food are all good bets for that. Now they are saying that brain health begins in the gut. SSRI's should be last resort.

Technical Literal child here. Mental health issues make going your own way really hard to do. Physical health as well has made me dependent on others for physical and emotional care. Last couple years I’ve been helping myself to be more independent. I’m not an adult yet and I still think about giving up lots of the time. We can only hope it gets easier and to work towards our goals is the point. I’m still figuring out my goals and what I wanna do. And who I am. Point is. Age means less than what I’ve seen people put on it. Growing older means more experience and more mistakes to learn from. You’re never too aged to go for something you like. And you’re not too young either. Youth means you have time to learn from others mistakes. Good goin bro. GG

Practice minimalism, eating well, getting sufficient sleep (8-9 hours), and investing the majority of your income. It will pay in more than dividends when you're older. The earlier you start, the greater the rewards you bear.

Never listen to women’s life advice, gentlemen. My female friends often call me “old” as an insult (not as a compliment). But it doesn’t sting at all once you realize that it’s just them projecting their own insecurities onto us.
Men tend to age like wine, women like milk. A woman my age is getting old. A man my age is a boy with facial hair.
There are exceptions, but by and large, a man is a tree of slow growth. We reach puberty later; we peak in income later; we are the late-blooming side of the species.
If you give up on yourself, you will merely grow old. If you keep investing your time and money well, you will mature into someone and something amazing — wise, wealthy and distinguished.
Human male value is more social than it is biological. This makes it open-ended. Infinite in potential. You can’t measure it with a clock. Men add value through knowledge, skill, wit, wisdom, experience, perspicacity.
Men are made by their conscious choices, not by nature. It’s not a question of being fresh or stale like fruit or bread — that’s women’s role, because they tend to offer nothing but their bodies.
Think of all the women you’re fond of and try to think of them without their attractive bodies. They’re not even the same person. Now think of the men in your life but with different bodies — your relationships are basically the exact same.
So keep learning and/or earning. Your best years are ahead of you.

Heres my reflection.
I'm 26, got the good job, got the first rental property, finishing the masters, no girlfriend (willingly & thankfully), and I still feel so behind & its frustrating.
Its funny / ironic, that when I was in middle-school, I was the bottom of the pack. I felt as if all the cool kids and bullies already had it made ( at 13 y/o lol). I'm much further than many of them and my hunger to grow as an individual has still not peaked.
I could stand to shave off 10lbs though..

Honestly I really needed to see this today, I turned 30 recently and I feel like a massive loser and that my life might as well be over. This, this gives me hope.

Yep and this situation will only apply to men, for women if you are still lost at 30s, your life is certainly over. This is One of the few benefits men have and it’s a great one, men really age like fine wine.
Keep going!

Let's hope young men dont commit suicide. The best thing right now is not commit to a woman so suicide wont happen in the first place
[–]Jarin010 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In his book, "Think and Grow Rich," Napoleon Hill points out that most men who become wealthy don't do so before around age 40. This is in his words because before that time a mans sex drive is so strong that he can't properly focus on anything but women. But once a man gets close to middle age not only does he have a lot more experience in life but his desire for sex decreases, allowing him to focus on other things.
I have seen this the last few years in my own life. While I am still very attracted to women and enjoy having sex, my mind isn't constantly consumed with the mindless desire to breed. In the last two years I have made greater strides towards achieving the wealth I have always wanted then I made in the previous 20.
For a women her mid 30's might be the end, but for a man it is the starting line.

Needed this. I'm 31, soon to be 32 and my life over the last 5-6 years hasn't been very kind to me. On the contrary, I've gone through some very hard times.

This is golden. We need to stay gold no matter how old we get.

My 20's were really rough at times but things evened out because I realized I couldn't ever stop working on myself. A lot of the things I worried about were inconsequential and I had to learn how to deal with it in a healthy way. Physically & mentally it lead to feeling better day to day. We all live our lives to some sort of idea of what we think it should be and working on yourself will benefit you however you go about your life.
