With information so freely available online and society's rules become lax, is this the best of times?

No more fairy tales, no forced anything and significantly less shame. Everyone knows that all marriages have a 40ish% chance of divorce. Couples go in knowing that. Guys go in knowing the massive legal consequences of divorce. Women know how hard it is to re-marry after divorce, especially with kids. No one looks down on either after divorce, there's no shame. There's more resources for couples counseling than ever before. Children of divorce aren't ostracized. Most people don't have fairy tales in their heads on how things should work, instead of how things do work. Relationships are hard and take effort to start and even more to maintain. Good thing it's not permanent. Marriage isn't a prison any more, nor are people pressured to get married (mostly) either.

People are armed with the knowledge beforehand, where before society would lie to us and romanticize things. Then punish men and women for failing. Not any more.
