I think it's because they value the fantasy of the cam girl more than the reality of having a girlfriend. The cam girl provides a one-sided fantasy relationship. She has no wants, needs, or desires and to a man, that's perfect. She exists for him to get off. When she's not needed, she doesn't exist. Most men are absolutely willing to pay for their gf if she’s their dream girl. Unfortunately they look like shit and so they’ll never get their dream girl, so they “settle” with another woman.
