You know that if you actually asked him for something, he would either:

Not do it and then expect you to comfort him for making him feel bad about himself
Do it but get passive aggressive about how you're always asking him for stuff
Say he will do it, then not do it for a long time, then when you finally do it yourself, act all offended that you dont trust him to do things
Do it and then expect you to fall all over yourself congratulating him on being a great helper
