Textbook financial abuse. God only knows what other forms his abuse takes behind closed doors. If women are impulsive and can't handle money in his mind, they also probably can't parent correctly or form any other kinds of opinions or make important decisions either.

This is part of the reason why I refused to be a stay at home mom once I had kids. You are setting yourself up to either be abused or in a financial nightmare. You are under someone else's thumb in 99% of these situations and automatically no longer on equal footing in the relationship. Even in cases where the man still treats his stay at home wife equally (basically never), things can happen beyond anyone's control such as death of the husband or the husband becomes severely disabled / unable to work.

My mother made it practically a requirement for me to go to college so I could get a degree, get a career, and make my own money so I never had to financially depend on a man, ever.

She helped put my dad through school instead of getting a degree for herself. The idea was that putting all the time, energy, and money into his career would benefit the whole family. So, he went on to get a degree, a lifelong career and make good money, while she jumped from multiple office administration jobs, making minimum wage.

When he divorced her, guess who really got screwed over? She had no education or career experience to fall back on.

I heard the fear, regret, and pain in her voice and saw it in her eyes when she told me I needed to make my own money. She wanted better for me and was terrified I'd end up in a situation like hers.

Ladies, never, ever, depend on a man for anything!! You're trapping yourself in financial prison if you do.
