What baffles me is the fact that these guys are so willing to immediately walk away at even the tiniest inconvenience for them like not getting your snap or number.
While at the same time they’re whining at how hard it is for them on OLD. That they only get a handful of matches. That they have to date down or in their own league and women can do the hypergamy thing, etc etc.
You’d think they’d value a hard to get OLD match more than walking away so easily.

Yuuuup. My 10 years older manager who wanted to have a fling insisted on Snapchat. No wife or kids but manager-subordinate relationships were verboten so he could have gotten in some deep shit if we'd been discovered. Naturally, he didn't want any evidence laying around. Looking back on it I don't see it as me just having fun. In the moment I felt empowered and it was a rush and all that shit, but I was being taken advantage of. There was an innate power imbalance, both because of the age gap and because he was my manager. I was a legal adult but you don't magically become mature and have the benefit of years of experience just because you've hit legal adulthood.
Him approaching me at all was inappropriate on so many different levels and I found out later that he'd been transferred to my location because he'd pulled the same shit at his old location and it'd been discovered. And instead of feeling shamed and changing as a person and deciding to stop pursing his much younger subordinates he just got craftier about keeping it hidden.

The whole company has a culture of scrotery. There was one manager pretty high up in the hierarchy (he was above the manager I got caught up with) who was caught having an affair with a subordinate because he overdosed in a hotel room with her and emergency services naturally contacted his wife. He got promoted to a high up HR position. 🙃

Oh, I know that! Sis, I’m 32 and if I could go back to my first kiss and how my life went downhill after that, I would and would slap the shit out of my face and tell myself to NOT do 90% of it. Boys first, and then men, and most of my precious life has been wasted with scrotes. 1000x this! Men and women use apologies differently. Women use them as social lubrication. Men only apologize when they absolutely think they did something wrong, and surprise, they rarely ever think they did something wrong (a recent study confirmed this). So when you apologize to men it has a very different effect than when you do so with women. I can't count how many times I threw in a casual "sorry" and a man says "it's okay, I forgive you" like some kind of benevolent God and I'm like wait, I wasn't really sorry! When you apologize to a man they see it as you ceding power to them. Don't do it lightly!

I do this all the time but I put it more positively: "I'd love to keep our conversation on this app til we meet up if that's okay!" (of course I'm not taking "no it's not OK" for an answer lol. I just say that to appear friendly). It's a fantastic way of testing whether they're actually interested in you and whether they'll respect your boundaries. I've actually never had a guy question it. They either say "oh sure yes" and then disappear completely, or they are accommodating and we continue the conversation. If a man can't understand why I wouldn't give out my number to a stranger, then I don't wanna date him because I don't want to have to do the emotional labor of explaining feminism.
That’s a great way of phrasing it! I’ll have to save that for later. I wasn’t too interested in this guy anyway, so I wasn’t too worried about being positive 😂

Also, if they say they want your number to have a phone call or video call, most of the apps these days have a built in call function due to Covid. Or you can get an app like Telegram that allows phone calls but they don't get to see your number.
