It is absolutely a form of sexist neglect and abuse when a family views an independent female family member as a weak link, as faulty, or as a target.

Many families tried treat married children infinitely better than those who are single and living without a partner - especially if she's a woman.

I know plenty of families who have refused to fully invest in their daughters like they do their sons, and when they try to reach out after the fact, it's usually just to point out all the ways that the lone woman has "failed," when actually, she's been sabotaged and neglected by sexist parents or siblings.

This is especially perpetuated by moms, who see their daughters as competition, and want them out of the house, asap.

This is going to get way worse as more parents decide to "homeschool" their daughters (basically ignore them and their needs).
